Yesterday I had decided to go pick up one of the 7 Wii's that Walmart had FINALLY in stock and wasn't back ordered. Some places around America lately haven't had a problem getting them in stock. Unfortunately this was not the case for my area, as EVERYONE has pretty much been out of stock since its release in my area. At any rate i bought the Wii Sports. Which has boxing, tennis, bowling, etc on it. Also i came home with Guitar Hero III because that fucking game is ADDICTING. What else should i go pick up for this addicting console? with the controllers being the way they are traditional games that i like would be difficult (FPS, etc)

there aren't too many wii games that are worth $50 imo. the ones i liked were mario kart, zelda, and metroid. also buy a game cube controller, it comes in handy with some games.

you can also hook up the wii to the internet and buy games from their shopping channel. they've got a bunch of old school games as well as 3rd part developed games.

i've been working on mega man 9 which is hard as hell

I'd recommend the following games:

1) Mario Galaxy. Not just recommending it "because it's a Mario game." The levels are very well designed and the gravity effect is both fun and intuitive.

2) Trauma Center. The game is a port from the DS (told in anime-style nonsense) about a surgeon. You have to use the Wii remote to perform surgery, from slicing to stitches, laser scalpel/etc. The story's pretty silly, but the game itself is fun and the music is catchy.

3) Boom Blox. This game is Steven Spielburg's first in awhile and it's essentially a take on Jenga. Sometimes you have to simply pull a block out of a tower, other times you have to chuck a baseball (or bomb, or bowling ball) or a stream of water at blocks to knock as many down as you can. It's simple, but fun.

4) Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Self-explanatory.

5) No More Heroes. I can't describe the game without it sounding stupid or corny, but it's actually very cute and a lot of fun, especially if you like anime and "over the top" fighting.

I was disappointed with Zelda, you can probably skip that one but it does utilize the Wii remote pretty well. Mario is probably my favorite game (besides Wii sports!) and Metroid is good too. In my experience, most 3rd party games blow.

Aside from what's already been recommended, Okami's incredible if you've never played it on PS2 -- it's a must own game. Zack and Wiki is also pretty good if you like point and click puzzlers. deBlob's also fun.

thanks for the suggestions guys...I kind of need a rest on my arms really too much swinging and trying to figure out in tennis how to consistently serve that rocket ball every serve....seems i can only get it about 25% of the time so I haven't quite figured that out yet lol not to mention boxing.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to pick up Zelda even if it does suck because well...It's Zelda. Definitely Mario Cart I can't believe i didn't notice it in the game case yesterday Super Smash bros also in the line up. I'll have to look for the other puzzle games and what not to add to the collection

You have to hit the ball at the very top of the throw. How fast you swing the wiimote doesn't matter, just hit it at the very top of the throw.

Resident Evil 4 is pretty good, it's been out on PS2 for a while but the controls are pretty tight and once you beat it there is a couple hours of extra stuff on it.

Zelda is good, though it's just a port of of the gamecube version, Mario Galaxy was good but I use Mario 64 as the benchmark and it didn't really touch that game.

Mario Strikers+beer+friends=fun

super mario brawl, I didn't like it.

Has anyone played Tenchu: shadow assassins? Is it any good? I loved the Tenchu series but this one got mixed reviews and the last few Tenchu games have been turds.

I don't have one myself but have enjoyed a couple of the sports ones.

I am getting myself ready for some Mario Kart, going to be crushing someone this Thursday when I play at their place!

After I get a bit of practice in.

My Wii's been collecting dust for awhile. (Damn, that doesn't sound good.) Only games I've really played are Galaxy, some SSB, and The Price Is Right. Girls love that game for some reason.

I've bought so many games for it, but, haven't really touched any of them. I waited in line for hours to buy the thing, now it's rotting on my shelf. The little time I have to play games, I go with 360. I'm different then most though. So that's just my opinion.

While were on the subject...Is the new Animal Crossing any good? My little brothers are obsessed with it, and I think it'd be fun to play and trade online with them. Bonding and all that. They're 8 and 10. Don't see them very much anymore and I think It'd be a nice way to connect with them.

It's essentially the same as the DS one.

I recommend Wario Land: Shake It. It's a lot of fun.

PWNT by the NBC Universal Jesus.

With that said, good luck OP! My Wii made it two whole weeks before the novelty wore away, and now I hesitate to even pick up the controls for anything but boxing (and even then I end up wishing I was swinging Sock'Em Boppers instead).

I refuse to give the Wii any more money until they figure out how to make some good games. The DS is Nintendo's true pride and joy.

There's a game called Madworld coming out pretty soon for Wii only that looks really slick.

Looks pretty neat. They could have at least named it something other than than the theme song from Gears or War.

Without reading the entire thread, I saw someone mentioned the nintendo titles. Definitely pick those up, starting with Zelda.

By far, No More heroes has been my favorite game on the wii, but I am also looking forward to Mad World.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention. Do not buy Red Steel. For your own good...just don't buy it.
