Somebody I know swears by the spoonfull of peanut butter method.

I never get the hiccups. When I hiccup, it's just one loud, voilent hiccup and it's over. Or it's because I ate too fast and am in a hurry, so I can just close my eyes and slow myself down and it goes away.

Best cure for hiccups:

Put a few shakes of table salt in the palm of your hand and lick it.

I know hiccups are supposed to be an involuntary muscle reaction/spasm/whatever, but if I concentrate on not hiccuping for 5-15 seconds it always stops. I'm a little worried that I have powers that other mortals cannot duplicate, but I think it's the ability to stop hiccuping, which totally sucks.
