Just curious what you all think?
Lots of classes have open casted spells that affect the whole room or area. But some are more powerful than others. In terms of survivability and the ability to take out a large number of tougher mobs fast which class would you say reins supreme?
Sorcerers have open implosion, major ewave, quake etc.
Wizards have ewave, rapid fire bolts, meteor swarm etc.
Bards have disruption which kills pretty quick.
But can the casters (depending on level of course) survive long enough to dish out the damage in a larger invasion?
Would be cool to see some logs too if possible.

Warriors are the worst class in the game, Khariz is just decked out with gear.
The correct answer is capped wizard with rapid fire Cone of Lightning (if the mobs can't touch him in offensive) or rapid fire Immolate. Those will wreck a room. Tonis'd archer bard can also rip through things that aren't wearing plate.
Archer rogue could be argued if a steady supply of haste is given. He'll be more accurate than the archer bard, but the bard can haste himself whenever he wants. The rogue'll have more dux and better armor though, but the bard can wreck a room using his powers alone.
Alternatively, if you aren't looking for a class with spells that won't rape other players in the room, the answer would be a pure bard casting Song of Sonic Disruption in a room. Gnimble can post logs of him fucking up shit with that. If you can stun the whole room, sorcerers are also a very good answer, as open implosion instantly kills anything stunned.

If you don't care about possibly killing other players, 1030, open implode and meteor swarm are by far the most powerful. I'd actually rank meteor swarm last due to the build up time. But assuming you have time to wait on it (and don't care if you die and/or can leave a familiar in the room to watch the fireworks while you run to safety), rapid fire meteor swarm is the most destructive force in the game.
As for player safe stuff, Cone of Lightning can't be beat. Except by those stupid water witches or whatever it is that reflects it.
Also if you can consistently ward the targets with a 200+ endroll, Eye Spy + Evil Eye will wipe everything out instantly.
As for non AoE spells, if you have a good mana battery for it, rapid fire 519 pwns pretty hard too, but it's not really practical to use in an invasion without a mana battery, which doesn't count if you ask me.

As far as 518 goes, it's far from just water witches that interfere with it. For a long while there, every invasion included lightning reflectors (or maybe just absorbers, if you were lucky) by default, which was a cheap, shitty bandaid on the part of whichever GMs.
Eventually, they coded up some critters to do the same for implosion, though on nowhere near as large a scale.
Still, it's probably safe to expect the same if any other spell proves particularly adept at handling invasion critters.

Swarm control it almost doesn't matter, most pure classes have a mass disabler and then can use whatever they want to annihilate.
Invasions are an entirely different bag. Cone of Lightning, Divine Wrath and some other stuff get negated by special coding. Rapidfire and Ball Spells with the corresponding lores can work well if the invasionary creatures aren't over level. Hasted Archery is good except it has the mandatory 1 second wait between firing.
Some of the high end, crazy invasion crap have insanely high melee DS and TDs so bolting is usually the best method.
I've seen Meteor Swarm be complete shit against normal creatures, I don't imagine invasionary stuff would be different. Besides any mass slaughtering effect that isn't PC friendly may just get you killed by people; effective in the short run but dodging angry mobs makes it poor in the long run.

You have to have a more controlled question to get a real answer. There are too many situations involved.
Is it an invasion or a swarm in a normal hunting area?
Do you have to live through the encounter?
Do you have to avoid killing other players?
Are you the same level as the things you are killing? Over them? Under them?
Can you set it up?
Is it cast once and see which spell kills the most?

Combine a wizard with a minor spirtualist who trains in spirit summoning. Bonus points if it's a cleric or empath with spirit slayer.
Rapid fire double lightning cloud 7 second to form storms of unavoidable death(besides leaving the area, of course) are about as pimp as it gets. Then have the wizard e-wave or tremor after so they don't get away. Provided they aren't lightning resistant, it'll be quite the barbeque.

Best class for swarm surpession. Wizard. Major Wave + Tremors + Ice Path + Rapid Fire CoL = IKE
Rapid fire Cone of Lightning gets my vote.
Add tremors or major ewave and it makes it sweeter.

Hasted Archery is good except it has the mandatory 1 second wait between firing.
It can, however, go indefinitely. Rapidfire anything you can run out of.
Just felt that should be said. Rapidfire anything is still technically faster and superior if you're just looking to fry off the swarm. Or just take that particular swarm out right the fuck now.

I vote for Emislity's song of roastbeef curtains.
Guaranteed to clear a room in 3 seconds flat.

Takes 2 seconds before the odor permeates the room. The sight of it works instantly but some can ward that off. Much like evil eye... cept it's evil pussy.
