Moist Happenings

The NASCAR National and Sprint cup races are Friday/Saturday night this week, meaning that I don't have to miss one of the four televised NFL games on cable this Sunday.
This has been a dead week for me. A dead few months actually. My publisher's waiting for another book series to end before releasing my first book, so there's really no pressure on me to really solidify the second yet, and I'm a procrastinator. I just moved down to Florida to help out my mother who's having health and domestic issues, so my bar is a thousand miles away, along with most of my friends. It's too hot to hike, and I haven't got a partner to hike with anyway, which is the most enjoyable part of it for me.
If the economy here was better I'd consider getting a job to take away some of the boredom, but as it stands Florida has the highest unemployment rate in the nation (last I checked). Taking a job that isn't really a necessity would just be selfish of me, as I'd be cheating someone who might actually need the position to live out of it.
The honest truth is that I haven't really liked any of the people I've met here in the south. That isn't to say they aren't good people. I just haven't had much if anything in common with anyone I've met that's actually FROM down here.
Been considering coming back to gemstone, but I'm really hesitant to do so. In my childhood it was sort of an escape from life, which I'm sure at least some of you will empathize with, but an escape from life isn't really what I'm looking for at the moment.
In conclusion, I'm not positive what I'd like to be doing right now, but I'd be interested in any suggestions anyone might have.
