View Full Version : What's a good price to move silver quickly?

The title pretty much states the question, but if you needed more details.......

I see "Silvers as low as $10 per million!" on gsauctions. I see people here "$9 mil if you buy x amount of millions!" and so on and so forth. I don't have hundreds of millions to sell. Not even dozens of millions. I've got about 20 mil and nothing to spend it on.

I'm also a somewhat starving kid and my car's fuel pump reminds me of it's own woes as I abuse that first notch above the E with my constant stream of $2-5 purchases. So I figured if I could offload some coins, maybe I could buy a pizza or three and a fill-up.

So, there's the question. What's a good price to get rid of these quickly? $8 per? $7? $5? I don't want the buyer to feel like they got a bad price, but IMHO, taking dollars for numbers on a screen always makes me feel like i'm somehow ripping them off. But then I see Tsin's empire and the old saying "You get what you pay for" comes to mind.

P.S. If you feel like answering multiple questions........

2: How much $$ can I get for some forest green brigandine armor?
3: How about a fixskill potion?
4: How about a fixstat potion?

1) stick to $8 or $9 per million. people usually buy at that price. if you don't feel like the silver is moving as fast as you need, sell lower.

2) 10m or so, adjust accordingly

3) 8-9m, adjust accordingly

4) 40-45m, adjust accordingly

Don't go lower than 9 per in my opinion. 9 per is easy to obtain.

Everyone kills the market everytime they lower their prices from the baseline.

And you can at least trust GSAUCTIONS unlike the majority of other transactions.

if you're converting from silvers to $$ to sell an item, charge at least $10/million.

What do you mean and/or what is wrong with that?

He means that silvers used to go for $35 per million. More actually, but this was the first price I remember.

Then some asshat started charging $30 per so people would buy from him instead of other people.

This caused the standard price to drop to $30 per over time.

Repeat this process until you're down to $8-9 per.

There are other factors too (diminishing population, etc.), but this is the main factor.

As for what's wrong with that....nothing, from a buyer's perspective.

Everything, from a seller's perspective.

Don't forget about the over abundent amount of silvers in the game now, which is also a major cause for the price drop

Not sure how that person is an asshat, sounds like supply and demand to me.

I've never bought/sold anything so that's I guess why I don't care. I mean... are people trying to make a living here playing this game? Lower price=more silver for some people so they can buy things that others have and enjoy the game more.

High supply (because there's no silver drain) + Lower population (demand) = low prices. End of story.

I'm talking about the people that despite the market price being steady, undercut anyway because they can't wait a couple days for it to sell and have to sell it RIGHT NOWWWWWWWWW.

There actually are people trying to make a living from GS. Ciston made a shitload of money in his day.

And yeah I suppose the inflated market with no silver drain doesn't help either, but most people in GS don't buy or sell coins. Or maybe they do for all I know.

Thanks dude. This is just what I needed. I'm almost to the point where I can buy a fixstat AND a fixskill, but if they sell for this much, i'll probably just keep my current armor and try to get cash for one or both potions.

When I first started selling silvers, I made $50 per million. I was like 16-17 and this was before PayPal, so a friend would just send me checks for the cash and then i'd give him the silvers once they cleared. It was fucking awesome.

edit: Also, lol @ people trying to make a living from GS. (see Bob's post plz)

He did an interview with some magazine talking about it. Didn't the GMs nerf his shit after that too?

I thought he was the one who gave like 3mil to every GS player that was in the military and/or in Iraq or something.

Just living here. From Massachusetts originally. Don't give a flying fuck about LSU (unless someone's throwing a party for a game and/or beer is involved). Or any college sports actually.

I wanna say I read in that article somewhere about Ciston (New York Times I think) that he's made over $200,000 from GS over the years.

Not sure about how much of his stuff got nerfed, but I'm pretty sure a bunch of it got nerfed after Tsin bought it. Darkstone key and Dartaghan's crystal ball come to mind.

I do not feel like reading this whole thread, but if you want to sell quick, then sell to gsauctions, or just for cheaper than everyone else...

Those are the fastest ways.

And having a good rep or having people that are well known on these forums for being good merchants to help you legitimacy doesn't hurt either.

Aanalar paid off his mortgage when he sold out in...97? No joke.

"sanctified claymore"

I love how they're all like "Neat! This guy gave us a good interview and tons of information and....... oh wait, he can't spell this word, let's correct him".

Lol

I still laugh at seeing, "4X blessable ax with extra silvery cobwebs across the blade" in the New York Times.

Probably thought up by the interviewer, as it's that atrocious. At least they didn't go the route of 'black glittering deathstones with archaic runes which seem to draw all light into them as they pulse with evil power'.

How did he manage to sell out when he was permabanned?

I can't remember what he got banned for either now but I remember it was big news back then.

According to my PayPal history, I've sold $5,252.50 of silver since October 2002. I don't remember the exact silver amounts, but I'm pretty sure the last $2,000 or was probably close to the same amount of silver as the first $3,500

I don't think I ever got more than $16 per million, but it was pretty steady @ $13-$15 until probably around early 2005

The last few times I've unloaded (late 2007 - early 2008) was at between $8 - $9. I'll also give a shout out to GSAuctions here; I'd rather deal with someone I trust than try to milk an extra $1

so anyone remember what the deal was with Aanalar?
