Oh come on now, the people upstate have earned a little bit of respect. You might even say that they purchased it, what with the etching their bills on slate with pointy rocks from down by the creek and then getting the old mule out and riding him down to the post office shack and paying phenomenally high taxes to support the real New Yorkers.

Hehe, I like upstate a lot. It's just too cold in the winter for my taste. It bugged the hell out of me when I heard they were paying hiked up taxes because of NYC too, so I could never live there.

Heard a few years back that they were talking about considering setting NYC up financially as its own state though to solve that problem. Dunno what came of it, if anything.

That was 10 or more years ago. It'd be way too hard to do. NYC is most of NY politics, and they love having us red headed stepchildren to bleed dry.

It's one of the finger lakes, and it's on RT 20, so it's kinda somewhere. They'll probably hit it up sooner or later- it's a rich-ass little town.
