I was given a box of coins and other oddities that belonged to my grandfather and in it were some old $1 slot tokens from some of the casinos in Las Vegas back in the day when he used to go.

I would like to obtain some $1 tokens from some of the current casinos in Las Vegas (Bellagio, Wynn, Luxor, etc.). Only I'm not planning a trip to Vegas anytime soon.

Anyone live in or heading to Vegas?

Slot tokens or chips?

A lot of the new slot machines use card and ticket technologies I think.

Doesn't what's her name work for Wynn out in Vegas?

Looking for the metal/brass tokens. Not chips.

Yea, I remember there being a few LV residents on the PC once upon a time.

She'd have to verify if they still exist in the casinos themselves. Locally they've switched all the machines to cash or debit/player's club card and you get your payouts on receipts.

Even if it's 16 cents the machines will print a ticket and most people leave the chump change laying around. You can make the rounds in between a poker a tourney and pick up enough tickets for dinner.

Visited Vegas earlier this year. All the slots we played had us insert cash and, when done playing on that machine, it spits out a ticket for whatever amount is left from the cash you put in. You can then use that ticket on another machine or cash it out at the cashier cage. Or some casinos also have a ticket machine that you can use to exchange. I didn't see any tokens but we only visited a few casinos so it's possible they are still in use.

And yeah, I think the casinos probably make a killing on unclaimed winnings. I know we had a few ticket vouchers for small amounts that we didn't bother turning in for the cash. Adds up for them I'm sure.

P.S. if you visit Vegas do NOT stay at the Plaza. It's a seedy dive without room service. I actually had to get dressed and leave the room before I was able to get my first cup of coffee for the day. Fuck me.

You can't trade in old tokens or chips usually. And there's no automatic way to do it (IE slots).

I know God/J-Tech used to live in Vegas, as well as some of his buddies, but those two logins haven't logged in for a couple years now.

I'm thinking it's Spungirl that works for a casino.

But yeah I figured they all switched to ticket machines. I don't feel the least bit sleazy walking down the aisles picking up the chump change tickets and cashing them in for a $15 dinner.

When I was in Vegas 2 years ago they 1$ metal tokens were used on several of the table games (Let It Ride). I used them mostly for tips for drinks.

They don't have tokens for slots anymore, but some casinos still have the $1 metal chips for tables for the bonus bets. I go every year, and a lot have switched over to plastic each time I go. I'll be there in a few weeks, but I only go to about 3-4 casinos anymore so I probably wouldn't be much help. Excalibur uses metal tokens, at least they did last year. New York New York, Sahara, and Treasure Island have switched to plastic. I think the Venetian and Tropicana may still use them but I'm not sure.
