My initial testing on 664 data points shows a R value of 0.024 correlation between outcome and mana return. The outcome means very little.

Additionally I've noticed the following:

"square" type creatures have mana = level.

"pure" type creatures have mana = level * 3.

1013 will strip X mana away from the creature and you will gain X/2.

The highest X = is your Bardic spellsong ranks.

Ex: I have 127 spellsongs. The highest amount I can strip is 127 mana but what I retain is 63 (it rounds down).

All conducted with 24 MMC ranks.

So, if you cast it at the blue/crystal wands. You get like 13-14 mana per charge in the wand? I think they are level 26-28 spells or something whacky right?

It varies, but I get up to 42 mana per charge out of blue/crystal wands.

The wand will have as much mana as you charge it with or it naturally spawns with.

You can strip UP TO your spellsong ranks worth of mana BUT retrain 1/2 of what you strip.

At what level can a pure bard rely on their own mana to hunt without the use of unravel and symbol of mana/wracking?

I've used it and I have 2x HP as a bard.

It all depends on how long you want to stay out in the field, your methods, etc.

As long as you have 24 MMC ranks you'll be fine to pull from whatever.

I suggest finding creatures that don't gen with spells to leech from since you can only get at mana after they don't have spells.
