Will altering an items description affect the items show or lore song in anyway?

Yes and no. You can change the show of an item when altering it if you want. Altering an item should not affect a loresong.
A GM may refuse to alter an item if its appearance is specified in its loresong. If it has a loresong about how it was made into a silver-veined mithril ring, it'll probably have to stay a silver-veined mithril ring.
And um.. yeah. Altering an item can affect it's show. I mean, that's one of the things you can change with an alteration.

If approved....how long do PP alters usually take?
It depends on the GMs. For me, it was anywhere within a day to a couple of weeks.

What is the longest anyone has waited for a sadie alter?
I had a difficult (as in, I had to talk them into it kinda' thing) alteration in the queue and it was almost three weeks before I gave up and canceled it, which I've always secretly suspected that they were hoping I'd do! Of course, it was easily done by the next in-person merchant I happened along.

yeah, sometimes they forget or dont get around to it, if you see a GM online just throw up a nice report about why your item is stagnating in the system
they will probably tell you not to report it, to assist or not to be an ass and clog the system or some stupid shit, but its always good to remind them, and who the fuck wants to sit in a long queue to be told, ok I will tell someone about it, and then again hear nothing
But I have reported once on something taking too long, and gotten quick help, I have also assisted once on a alter typo, and gotten very quick help by a GM who was around in the background. Speaking of which I have more typos that need to be fixed.

Thanks for the info, I deleted my post because I've been smoking crack. It hasn't been 3 weeks yet, it's been 16-17 days. I'll give it another week.

ive had it take 4-5 weeks +
I wouldn't wait. Simple alterations are a few minutes work, why should it take that long to get to it? Sounds like everything is approved and whatnot.
