I just had the most amazing experience today.
I went to a center where they offer 4D Ultrasounds. They had a projector so my family and friends could watch the whole thing along with me. There were different packages you could buy. I ended up getting a 30 minute long DVD (buy 1 get one free) that includes music, 53 color pictures, 60 black and white photos, 2 button pins, a VHS copy of the video and a photo album with the best color pictures of my baby.
I'm on cloud 9 right now. One of the best days ever. Yes.. I had to brag.
Alright, done showing off my proud moment.. for now. :D

Yeah..
Congratulations, etc but I think it's different when you're a parent or have something emotionally invested.
I've always felt tiny babies/fetuses looked like aliens, personally. Very cool technology though!

4D Ultrasounds are the coolest. This is one we got of Daliana before she was born (she wasn't facing forward so we only got a profile shot):

It was one of the most amazing experiences prior to her arrival.

That is totally what I see in that third ultrasound. And this is not a dig against you, fetuses totally look like lizard alien things. I'm sure she'll be gorgeous.
That's cool, I'm afraid if I'm ever around a "4D" ultrasound I'll be pestering the tech. over what the 4th dimension is.

Not exactly the reactions I was thinking I would get. I guess I'm going to just be a bit bitter for a little bit.
Apparently I have to take naked preggo shots to get a positive reaction. Heh.

There was no negative reactions. No one said it was disgusting or that your child is ugly. A lot of people don't think babies get terribly cute until a week or so after they're born.
Also, people don't have the same emotional attachment that you do so they see it differently. If Shari had posted her ultrasound photos she'd have gotten the same reaction.

Yeah, this is true. It was nothing against you Divinity; fetuses really aren't cute at that stage.
AND COME ON? No one else sees the Stay Puft marshmallow man in that picture? The mouth is the perfect shape, and the eyes... AND IT EVEN HAS THE HAT COCKED TO ONE SIDE.

My daughter (born July 11th) ended up looking NOTHING like her 4D pictures. And, honestly, I'm thankful. She had a schnoz on her that looked like it took up half her face. I ended up spending the last month or so of my pregnancy totally freaked out about her nose - and feeling GUILTY as hell about it.
It's a neat experience, though! We got to see her yawn and blink inutero.
Our baby was diagnosed with only one functioning kidney early in my pregnancy, so we were getting ultrasounds every month to keep an eye on the healthy kidney. I have tons of pictures from all of that, and in the end none of them really look like the beautiful angel I have today.

I love the 4d thing, it's cute!
I think they're cuter at that stage then after they're born sometimes. I remember thinking that my youngest who had jaundice, large red marks on her eye & forehead, folliculitis + cradle cap...was going to be the next quasimodo for the first 3 months of her life.
She turned out okay though http://s43.photobucket.com/albums/e377/Beaksnwings/?action=view¤t=b39ff58b.jpg

I specifically chose NOT to post my 4D ultrasound pictures because *I* thought he looked like an alien, or a gargoyle, depending on the shots. They aren't flattering. BUT, they do ensure that your baby has fully developed features (ears, nose, mouth, 10 fingers, 10 toes) and that there's no spinal bifida, organs aren't growing outside the stomach, cleft palet, etc.
So yeah, there's my two cents. I'm glad you were excited about it, it is a fun and emotional time.

Kids these days have been desensitized to the great old one from a young age.

Proof that a healthy child is on the way, but you know if you had a blood test or something to screen out a disease- I'm cool knowing the results. I don't need to see the test results themselves. Ultrasounds (of any type) look like Rorsach tests to me (at best) and Cthulu pr0n (which is full of win but still) at worst. Unless it's actually my child, it's difficult to get excited about them. I'm content with friends and family reporting "Hey we just did an ultrasound and heard the heartbeat and the doctor says he(she, it) is doing great!"
