Man went in for late-life circumcision. Drs removed his penis.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26890724/
To be fair, the Dr found cancer in the penis while performing the operation. But Jesus Christ, let him at least wake up, consent, and hire the best hooker he can find (Rhett's sister?) for his last orgasm.

Did he at least wrap the penis up for him or put it in a jar? I mean, it's one thing to cut a man's penis off, but if he threw it away...now that's crossing the line.

I didn't see that.
My suspicion is raised when a doctor does something however, that should rightfully get them sued then claims "I knew that". He didn't have consent for that procedure.

He didn't have consent and I'm not sure they knew it was cancerous before the operation.
There is no doubt that the Dr will lose his ass (which will then be covered by his insurance). There will be no jury nullification in this one. No matter how you feel about tort reform, when a man loses his penis without consenting, that's a pile of punatives waiting to be awarded.

I think he deserves more than 2.3 million for this. I can't believe a doctor would actually remove someone's penis on the thought that it MIGHT be cancer. FFS, it's not like he would've died in the time it would take for him to wake up and be told about the findings. It was not immediately a life or death situation. And this doctor needs to pay out the ass for it, AND lose his license. And honestly, I wouldn't be against some Hammurabi-type retribution here, heh.

You're a moron, seriously. It helps keep the penis clean by reducing the amount of smegma that develops, keeps it from STINKING, and it's much more attractive than an uncut penis.
And like you'd know anything about sensitivity levels and enjoying sex. You'd actually have to find a girl willing to have sex with you first. And I simply doubt that's going to happen.
Edit: Oh, and i've been with both types. And let me tell you... the cut ones have ZERO problems enjoying sex. Stop reading medical journals and actually go out there and try to get laid (oops, lol, my bad... ;))

The medical community goes back and forth over circumcized or uncircumcized being healthier actually. General hygiene pretty much takes care of any concerns about keeping the foreskin. IMO, it's all what you're used to.

Why would I want to have sex with a girl? Anyway, not that the enjoyment factor has anything to do with actual intercouse--masturbation's affected as well. Also, it's not a matter of whether or not men can enjoy sex despite being circumsized; their bodies are being surgically altered, without their consent, for a medically pointlessly procedure. It serves no purpose--it does not need to be cut in order to be kept clean any more than your hair needs to be shaved because you're too much of a fucking slob to wash it.
You probably find a cut penis more attractive because that's what you're accustomed to seeing; people in countries that don't practice it often find cut ones "as weird" as you seem to find natural ones.

I haven't done any research on this, but I can tell you from personal experience that general hygiene does not always take care of that, heh. I messed around with someone who was not a dirty guy, he was always clean and groomed. It was not so in his pants, and apparently it was an issue for him. Plus, it was fucking ugly.

I'm with you on fucking ugly, just saying there are health advantages and disadvantages to keeping it. There are also specific washing steps that have to be taken to make sure it stays clean beyond just going in for a wet down with soap. It should be rolled back and washed carefully for instance. In that way, I agree that cut is much easier, especially on parents.
While I'd probably choose it for my son, if a doctor did it without asking permission first, I'd remove their balls and make them eat them.

Yes, I'm gay. You, however, are an idiot. Once again, you missed the point--it's not about whether or not they can enjoy it with or without circumcision. It serves no purpose and reduces the sensation and sensitivity, people that have not had it until later in their lives, say.
You are pretending you know what you're talking about, when you know basically zero besides your own sexual escapades. It's controversial for a reason; I am not just "stirring up shit"--you're ignorant of the issues. It's not my job to educate you. You disagree with me, that "everyone should have it done." Fine. Go fuck yourself, idiot. Only thing I regret is that idiots like you are going to do it to your children for essentially no other reason than "tradition."
The majority of the people on the planet don't have it done; we do for tradition's sake. More tragically--you, whom don't have a penis, will be making this decision (whole or in part) for your children, when you will never have had to go through it yourself. It's not perfect, but maybe you should go get yourself a female circumcision (it won't stop you from having sex, unfortunately) and then come back and say whether or not you think it's a good idea to do to anyone else.

P.s. The reason why uncirmsized people are less susceptible to infections is not onoly due to the lack of bactria on the foreskin but because the skin itself can have very small non painful breaks which are like leaving hte key under the doormat for STD's.

Aw come on. I mean if he threw it away it just goes to waste. If he put it in a jar or something the guy could always take it home, maybe put it on the mantle, look at it sometimes; remember how fun it was to have a penis. There are all sorts of things you can do with a severed penis in a jar. It'd make a great conversation piece at parties (or Thanksgiving) if you used it as the table centerpiece.

I can think of worse things that are done to children that are mandatory in the US and take the decision making out of the hands of the parent entirely. For instance, before I'd get all fired up about kids' wangs, I'd be livid about mandating vaccines for children which bear very similar protein structure to internal body cells. Mups/Rub is a great example.

I actually think uncut ones look quite nice. If you ever fuck a European man, chances are he's gonna be uncut, too. It's just not that common outside of the US and the idea of it "looking better" is a social thing within the US.
That being said I don't have a problem with it either way. I do think though that the parents at the least should get to decide before a doctor just does it.
When I have kids it'll be up to the dad to decide (if it's a boy of course) to get it cut or keep it uncut.

but maybe you should go get yourself a female circumcisionFemale Circumcision =/= Male Circumcision
As for the smell and cleanliness issue, you just have to wash it. I remember when I was 11 or so and realized the skin pulled back for the first time (ouch! btw... it takes a few weeks to get the skin streched enough). I thought there was something wrong with it; I certainly wish my parents would have informed me what to expect down there.
Since then I am very careful about washing it, I have to take two showers a day anyway because of my wife's allergies (I have to take one in the morning or my hair doesn't work properly, and she makes me rinse off before bed to wash off any possible irrietents for her). Every shower I wash up and every time after sex if she is on the rag or anything medical is going on down there.
I can say that my cock doesn't smell... Diethx, the un-cut guy you were with didn't wash very well. That's all there is to it.
As for the morality. Hey, if you want to cut your kids, then cut em. If you don't then don't. I'm not going to because I don't see any need to get them cut. I'm going to talk to my kids about it and make sure they know how to keep clean and stuff. If anything, they'll just save hundreds of dollars over their lifetime on lotion (don't need lotion to jerk off when you're uncut... I know you wanted to know that)...
As for the origonal story, they should have stopped the surgery and made sure he was informed of his options, taken all the steps they needed to, and he had enough time to figure out his decision etc.
ES, So the doctor slipped and there just happened to be cancer? I'm sure the dudes lawyer had his own doctors check out the wang and ensure it was cancerous and didn't just take the other doctor's word for it. Either way if he had slipped, you can reattach wangs (albiet poorly), especially if it's very soon after the 'oops'.
Although, I do wholeheartedly agree that nobody should trust doctors.

We used to do brain surgery where everytime surgeons found out that the tumor that looked to be about the size of a penny was the size of two half-dollar coins, you'd have someone with 4 centimeters of brain removed.
The most rudimentary changes in diagnostics and especially imaging within the last 30-40 years; to me, mean that the doctors utterly fucked this one up.
And I trust Dr.'s like a Scientologist's bane, but this... No.

Maybe this is TMI, but I like my circumcised dick, I don't feel tortured and God knows it's sensitive enough. I've had a few friends/team-mates that were uncircumcised and well, it just didn't seem to me like either of us enjoyed our dicks more, or had more (or less) health problems or cleanliness issues. It's a flap of skin, Christ, which means you need to pay a little extra care keeping it clean and clear. Nothing more or less. I can't say I see any convincing argument for or against circumcision- it's the parents personal choice.

Several of you know my circumcision story. I'll spare everyone else. Needless to say, it was worth it.

I'm sure it was worth it but I have a huge ass scar from it. At least it caused a curve.

I swear this post made me cringe, laugh, and run out of the room screaming at the same time. Could you give a little more detail?

It's an unnecessary surgery that reduces male sensitivity and enjoyment of sex.
I'm just going to point out that for some parents, circumcision is a religious issue.
I couldn't tell you if Jewish boys are less sensitive or enjoy sex less than gentiles, since I was a rebel and never dated one, but I do know that the decline of Judaism in America is not due to decreasing birth rates. So my guess is that they're still enjoying sex.
As for that doctor.. I hope he gets taken for everything he's got, besides losing his license. Like just about everyone else has said, there can't have been anything so life threatening that he couldn't have waited for the patient to come off the anesthesia, be told about the finding, and make up his own mind what he wants to do.

Yeah.. Okay. Look up world percentages of circumcision. It's an unnecessary surgery that reduces male sensitivity and enjoyment of sex. Be thankful that you weren't circumsized, Diethx.
If I enjoyed sex any more then I might be in jail. I guess I should be thankful I was circumcised.
