thank you

edit: btw if she withdrew her 1.4 mil (1.3?) after I bid 1.5, would be cool to go back to 1.2 :)

I'm not sure that's how it works...

iJin
09-26-2008, 03:25 PM
Actually, if I withdrew my bid at 1.3 mill after she previously bid at 1.2 mill, She would of been bidding 1.5 after a nonexistant bid (Since I withdrew it).

The bid should go back to 1.2 mill. Since it's only fair.

sorry, set a time to end the auction, then extend it after no bids have been received for almost 12 hours, that's bullshit

droit
09-29-2008, 02:40 PM
I'm sorry you feel that way. I thought I was doing the polite thing by allowing those who had just noticed the auction a reasonable period in which to bid. I won't retract the action now, but I'll try to be clearer in the future.

Edited to add: The 8pm deadline still holds.

Well, sure. It is an auction, after all. The item should go to the person willing to pay the most for it, not the person whose schedule happens to give them the advantage. With that in mind, since you've had the longest interest in this item, I'd be happy to further extend the auction to a time that would allow you to have your final say. When I set the 8pm time limit, I was trying to both allow new people to bid but also to be reasonable to you. Yes, I'm benefiting financially from extending the auction, but I'm not a completely greedy person--I did reduce your bid after Kitsun withdrew, did I not? Again, I'm sorry you seem to have taken personal offense to the way I held this auction. If there is a time you'd like me to end it so that you can take part in its closing, please let me know.

On Friday night you announced the closing time for the auction as Monday morning. If people didn't notice it for two whole days, then IMO tough shit. You reduced it because I outbid Zuie who at the same time deleted her post, which I thanked you for. I call people out just as fast as I thank them.

I'm pissed because the staff wasn't for me, I was going to give it to someone as a gift, but I'm not going to bid more than what should have been the winning amount.

Well, I apologize. All I can say at this point is that I'll be sure not to make the same mistake in the future.

Allereli
09-29-2008, 03:29 PM
Well, I apologize. Because someone has bid higher and I'll get more money I won't retract the extension, no matter how much of a dick move this has been.

You know, Brielus just sent me a PM giving me his permission to negate his bid and give you the staff for your earlier bid, which I was leaning towards doing. But posts like that last one are making it a lot harder for me to make that choice.

droit

So do you want it for 2.2m, or do you want to continue trashing me for making a mistake in the way I ran this auction?

Because I have no right to be pissed about it and post my opinion...

I'm just calling it as I see it. Give it to Brielus, I'm not taking anything back.

Did I read it wrong or was the gal bitching even though she didn't win?

From what you said, it was high bid when you checked in on the 29th, that bid was 2m to dwarventank, not 2.2m to her.

Besides first time you check on the auction could be ANYTIME on Monday. You could have just not posted in the thread until 11:59 PM

The problem with running an auction with a pre-set end time only encourages people to bid snipe at the last minute. I can entirely see a rolling deadline being fair to counteract it but I find it is just easier to update going once, twice, thrice.

These lor runestaves have really gone down in price too. The few originals sold for like 8,000,000 each.

Seconded. Learned my lesson the first time I put a time deadline. Just say night and if people don't bid right away their loss.
