View Full Version : WaMu news for PB
J.P. Morgan Chase (http://online.wsj.com/public/quotes/main.html?symbol=jpm) & Co. was expected to announce as early as Thursday night a deal to acquire the bulk of Washington Mutual Inc.'s operations in a deal that would mark the end of independence for what once was the largest U.S. thrift.

Speaking of.... Suze Orman was on Larry King last week, someone emailed essentially the same question you had, PB:
If WaMu is faltering, would they take an offer to pay off the entire loan. Her answer was, in this case the folks had great credit so she said that it was unlikely that WaMu would take a deal, on the otherhand, if someone had bad credit and offered a deal they would likely take it.

I would say that you have to spend it all reallyreally fast, and then it will magically go away when WaMu is acquired. Also, if it doesn't work like that, you could just leave the country. Or alternatively you could purchase a bus and paint it up all nice and pretty and form a traveling folk group with your family. Yeah. That'd be fun. Also Wolfman.

Yeah, I know, but I find that the best thing to do when I don't have an informed answer to give is come up with something completely fictional. It works out well enough in my business decisions.
well I don't like chase =(

At least we're not bailing out that piece of shit business...supposedly.
Of all the banks I've banked with, I like Chase the best.
BofA (formerly NCNB)
Wells Fargo
WaMu
several local banks (still use one for a savings acct)
Wachovia

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. got WaMu for 1.9 billion according to the radio this morning.
As for banking I've only had 2 National City since I was 16 and First Flight Federal Credit Union while I was on Cherry Point. I'm still with National City, they aren't great but they've yet to dick me over.

I had a credit card though chase and they upped my interest rate from 7.9 to 29% while I was deployed. I had the card for four years prior to that and never missed a payment. So, I'm not a fan of them.

Soldiers and Sailors relief act.
SSRA give something like a 6.0 or 6.9 rate. 7.9 was well enough with me to not spend the time writing up a sob letter requesting it. Pissed me off when they upped it and it took me about 6 months to know it even happened.

Unless you're still using the card (and why would you in Iraq?) you are allowed by law to suspend the card and have the interest rate dropped to zero.
Even still 24% is definitely worth a letter.

No shit?
No, i canceled the card while I was there, as soon as I found out about the rate increase. That's the reason I'm not a fan of Chase Bank.
When I deployed the rate was 7.9%. They upped it on me to 29.9% while i was deployed without having a late or missed payment. Their excuse when I called them was "we're sorry our records don't go back that far" (i didn't find out about it until my mother emailed me to tell me after she opened a statement)
SSRA only lowers the rate to 6.9% and that is on transactions before you're enlistment date. (had to do the research on it recently for one of my solders who's all kinds of fucked up on his finances) Some banks are nice about it and will lower the rate to a 6.9 fixed across the board, not all though.

See they did the same shit on me however. My rate used to be like 7.8 but it is currently 28%. I've never missed a payment or been late etc and when I called them they said they had sent literature about it and I should have responded then.
I now know to open all the shit the CC companies send instead of just the bills. BUT FUCKING 28% ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
These companies have nothing holding them back.

So you didn't answer my question... can you suspend a card if you're not currently deployed?
If that's directed at me I don't know. Daniel was the one talking about suspending, for me that's the first I heard of it. if it is so its good to know for the one I've got a deployment coming up in a few months

Fuckers (WaMu) are giving me problems logging into my online accounts now.
What really sucks is now I'm going to have two Chase accounts and we hate Chase. Time to transfer balances.
