View Full Version : Kray's balls

Ack. Getting a vasectomy Friday. NOT looking forward to it. Then I gotta wear tighty-whiteys for a week. And they also asked me to shave my balls with a STRAIGHT RAZOR before coming in. Without going into too much detail about my balls (too late?), a straight razor is not going anywhere near them.

Anyone had a vasectomy before than can tell me how painless it is?

This has been a post about Carsyn's balls. Thank you for reading.

Carsyn

FFS use a condom.

Condoms suck. Much rather get snipped.

BTW, me and the wife have zero kids, and want to keep it like that. She's over 30 and smokes, so doctor doesn't want her on hormones because of heart and cancer risks. She had the copper IUD, but had to get it removed. Tubal ligation is more invasive, costly, and risky. So that leaves vasectomy.

Yes, I know, WTF, TMI, but it's medical-related so I'm sticking by it.

I'll post a full review Friday afternoon if I can make it down the stairs.

Sitting on a bag of frozen peas for a week doesn't sound like fun. And he's not prescribing pain medicine for afterwards because he says most people don't need it (think I'll ask again). But you're not supposed to take blood thinners. So like I guess I'll be taking a half bottle of Tylenol every day to get to work.

Oh, try and get it done without a scalpel..
http://www.answers.com/topic/vasectomy

"No scalpel" vasectomies are gaining popularity. Instead of an incision, a small puncture is made into the scrotum. The vas deferens are cut and sealed in a manner similar to that described above. No stitches are necessary and the patient has less pain. Other advantages include less damage to the tissues, less bleeding, less risk of infection, and less discomfort after the procedure.

Dude: Anyone who's going to overtly let sharp metal objects permanently alter their genitalia has to have a stronger reason for doing it than our reasoning against it.

If I'm serious about donating my eyes, your logic and questioning pale in comparison to my seemingly out-there reasoning.

Well if you have a better idea then spit it out, I'm all ears. It's safer and more effective than tubal ligation and certainly more... fun... than condoms. We tried the IUD, and hormones aren't an option for her anymore.

Yeah, I've read tons and the chances are miniscule to say the least. But the doc I'm using says he's never seen it happen in any of his patients. And this guy's an old fogey and came highly recommended.

The only weird thing he's seen was a guy who had the vans deferens cut, clamped, and cauterized, and was still getting postive results in sperm tests. He said the guy must've had a microscopic vans deferens somewhere, but he was never able to locate it.

I don't get what the huge deal is with having this surgery.

If he doesn't want kids anymore and his partner has been the one primarily responsible in the past for making sure that doesn't happen, I think it's only fair that eventually the man steps up to the plate and does what he can. What's the point in being able to father a child still if you're sure you don't want to father a child-- it doesn't make you any less of a man.

In all seriousness, kudos to the OP for getting the snip. Hormonal BC is absolutely horrible and I think it's thoughtful of you to go this route to spare her the more invasive surgery to do something more permanent.

A FEW WEEKS?! Jeezus. I'm gettin it done 11am on Friday, I got a family reunion to go to the next day at noon. Then I gotta be at work Sunday, but I ain't gotta do much. But the doctor acts like I'll be good to go in no time. I guess we'll see.

And a couple posts have acted like it's a loss of manhood to be infertile. Honestly, that's never even crossed my mind, not in the least. If anything, it's an increase in manhood to be able to... do as you please without the worry of children nine months later. Maybe that's just me.

We talked about it a bit on Psinet OOC. About the shaving the balls situation. Nair isn't an option apparently. And trimming with a beard trimmer on a short guard, like usual, isn't going to be close enough. So basically I'm going to ask my wife to do the deed with a razor. I'm sure she'll figure something out. I'll ask her tomorrow and we'll see what she says I guess.

LOL. Even though it's funny, I do really appreciate everyone's input, seriously.

If I remember correctly, my step dad was told the recovery time would be about 3 days, but he could do most activities within 24 hours. But there was a complication during the surgery and the doctor told him a week to two weeks recovery, so my step dad just didn't take the chance and I believe he took 3 weeks off work.

Not trying to scare you or anything, but, generally the surgery is pretty smooth.

Mach 3 works fine. Seriously I don't know why a non-guard trimmer wouldn't work either though. I mean all they have to do is get to the skin to puncture/slice it. It's just they don't wanna dig through a forest to do it.

And from what I read, it doesn't take to long to recover. It's just a bit of pain.

I see a lot of "zomg why go snip snip that means u Rn't a man no mor!!!11"

Honestly, why not? If he's never going to have children, I think it's the intelligent thing to do. Sooner or later, this world is going to have to become cognizant of its overpopulation. We've already got more people than the planet can support. Why don't we care yet? Because Africa and Indonesia aren't Western Powers, and though India is our ally, it really isn't one of the mainstream allies, like Britain. We just don't care, though we should. We're content to still have blinders over our eyes for the moment because we're Americans, and that's our right apparently.

So whatever your reasons Kray, I salute you for being ahead of the curve, and though it may get more than a few weird looks, I'll toast one to your balls at the bar tonight. :D

I shave my balls with a beard trimmer on the smallest guard. You can't shave your balls clean with a beard trimmer without a guard, it'll nick your balls, I do that sometimes even with the guard on. I don't own anything but a beard trimmer. I keep a five o clock shadow on my face at least at all times so I don't need anything but a cheap ass beard trimmer.

I talked to my wife last night, btw. Apparently she's had experience shaving an exe's balls with a straight razor, so it looks like I'm in luck.

Kray's Balls
In Loving Memory
1979 - 2008

Everything went excellent. I'll start from the beginning so if anyone is thinking about getting it, you'll know what my experience was.

Had an appointment originally with a urologist about two weeks ago. He just made sure that I don't want kids, understood the possible risks (one of which, you may need to know, is that it's not "guaranteed" to be reversible). Also "investigated" my "anatomy" which basically meant fondling me to make sure he could find my vans deferens. Scheduled a vasectomy.

Today was the vasectomy. Had to take a valium 1 hour before the surgery, along with some antibiotics and anti-inflammatory. Gotta take more antibiotics and anti-inflammatory (Celebrex) post-op but no valium or any other pain killer post-op besides the Celebrex. To be honest, I never felt the effects of the valium that I could tell. But it didn't really matter, I didn't feel like I needed it anyway.

The procedure takes place in his office, BTW. He told me we could do it at a hospital as outpatient and get general anthesia, but he said 99% of people do it in the office, and I didn't want to be a pussy, so office it was. And glad I did, no regrets, general anesethia would have been overkill to say the least.

So anyway they take me in. I take off my pants and underwear, lay on a table. They tape your penis to your belly and rub anti-septic (they called it "paint", I guess it was anti-septic) all over. Got three shots, one on each side of scrotum which didn't hurt really. Then got one right in the scrotum. That one kinda stung but no biggie. And that was the worst pain of the whole procedure, after this they could have castrated me and I wouldn't have felt it I think.

Then they lay down one of those sheets with a hole in it to put your scrotum through. I sort of feel things happening, but no pain whatsover, couldn't really tell what he was doing at any given time beyond hearing the cauterizer and seeing him pull stitches through. I felt a slight tugging sensation, but not painful at all, just like a gentle pulling feeling. They stitch me up, sit me up, I put my clothes back on, and walk out. Entire operation from start to finish took maybe 30 minutes.

Immediately post-op, I'm feeling fine, walked out and to the car just fine. They wanted someone to drive me there and back, and my wife did that, but I didn't really feel it was necessary (maybe it was because I didn't react much to the valium though). I feel like I could walk around the block if I wanted to. I would even go to work today if the doc didn't tell me to put ice on it for 24 hours and not do much. So all in all, I would highly recommend my doctor anyway, it was nearly completely painless, both during the operation and post op so far. Really, really glad I got it done.

And I gotta say, the doctor and assistant I had had me laughing my ass off the whole time.

The assisant kept saying things like "Want me to get that book with the illustrations in it?"

Doctor said, "Okay. What do we do first?"

The doctor would ask the assistant "Did he check the anethesia box?" Assistant would say "Nope, we gave him that expired South Korean stuff we have".

Afterwards, the doctor said "That's not bad for the second one we've done".

They said all kinds of shit the whole time. I mean really, I was laughing my ass off as my balls were gettin snipped. Dare I say it was nearly an enjoyable experience.

Anyone who's thinking about getting one, I'd highly recommend it if it fits your needs!
