View Full Version : Where is my highlight name list?

I know that there is a text-type saved somewhere on my computer for Stormfront that saves all the names I have highlighted (merchants, enemies, etc). Anyone know where that's generally located? I don't remember where it's at.

Thanks!

This is probably no help, but in the Wizard it'd be Shari.nam I think. Or whatever your character's name is.

You'll need to go into your application data. Make sure you go into Tools/Folder Options/View and choose to show all hidden folders. Then open up your C drive and go to Program Data, StormFront and then GS4 (to open your characters from Prime) or GS4X (to open your characters in Plat). You'll see a bunch of XML files titled by a string of numbers. These are your character ID numbers, which you can access by typing PIN in game.

To import your highlights to a specific character, just choose to import and follow the folders until you find the XML file you want. Then choose whether you want to import all the highlights, import only the new highlights, or clear your current highlight list and import the ones in the XML file. Depending on how extensive your highlight list is, your SF window can become unresponsive for a few seconds or several minutes, so I'd suggest going off somewhere before you import your list.

Am I broken? I have ONE .xml file in my Stormfront folder, and that's a cmd folder for god-knows-what.

My Wizard-based names folder is empty. Is there a way to MAKE a new .xml file and just paste names in there and then import them?

Don't go into your C:\ProgramFiles\StormFront folder, you need to view hidden files and do the following...

Goto: C:\documentsand settings\user\applicationdata

Look for the StormFront folder there. There will be a lot of files to check out.

I'm totally fucking lost...and I'm going to blame it on the fact I use Vista. Its on my C drive...is it just going to be listed as Documents perhaps?

I believe that works in other versions of Windows, Mario. It may be different in Vista, which I have now. The pathway I gave works for me, and I followed it to make sure. Either way, it's definitely not the Program Files folder.

Ah, nice, vista makes it easier for me to help you.

Go to your start menu. Click on Computer. Double click your main drive (C:\ is default). Double click Users. Double click your user name (Default is Owner, if that is you). With hidden folders visible, you should see an AppData folder. Double click that. Double click Roaming. Double click StormFront. Double click GS4. w00t.

I'm running Vista, and here's the path I followed to get to the data:
Computer -> OS (C:) -> ProgramData -> StormFront -> GS4

Make sure you have your options set so you can see hidden folders. You won't be able to find the ProgramData folder otherwise.

Alright, I set it up to show hidden folders and I'm still not seeing shit. I fucking hate Vista.

Just so you know, mine isn't where you said, Gretch. Mine is where I stated above.

Very odd. I just checked it again and the path I have works. I did check yours and it's there as well. It could be that I'm looking at the stuff I transferred over from my old computer.

Ooookay. Did all that. Now how the fuck do I import merchant names to my highlight folder?

For the record, I'm just trying to add the new Ebon Gate merchants to my highlight list, so if there is an easier way, by all means let me know.

Just start opening those files. You'll find a highlight one, and then just follow what the other ones look like and add them. There are a lot of files.

omg.

This is going to take forever. I found the highlight list (I think) its looks like a fucking disaster.

If I just want to add merchant names to my highlight lists, I just use a highlighting script and add them in through the game. I don't have to worry about manipulating the XML file directly.

I only found a highlight script for Wizard, not SF. And even if I had it, it looks like I still have to do one name at a time, without the luxury of pasting the entire list on there all at once. :(

Actually, Emeradan posted a script that allowed someone to highlight multiple names at once. I didn't save it, for some weird, unknown reason. I do have a highlighting script I adapted from Gahread's qhl to run in SF, if you're interested.

Editing a highlighting script to highlight multiple names shouldn't be too hard. Once I'm not swamped with homework (read: 95% of the time!), I'll see about poking my script to see if I can make it work.

I made one on my website that works for SF.
