Is it possible to use a wand bow elementally attuned to ice to avoid the weapon flares from fire mages?

not that i know of...as far as i knew only thing that saved you from that was a high enough TD or empty hands. when I hunted there I was using a cold flaring longsword and that was still hit by it. but always have a disk with you and as soon as you're hit with the spell place your weapon in a disk and if possible go into hiding until said weapon flaring is complete

edit: unless you mean the death gaze of the mage. I honestly can't remember if on a cold flare death if it death gazed me or not. I seem to remember the only time i'd miss a death gaze was if it died of blood loss. I do know however, sniping if possible also circumvents the death gaze

yea, i was talking about the weapon flare, not the death gaze. the death gaze hasn't been too problematic. i was trying to do a fire mage bounty and my ranger got owned by weapon fire since i wasn't quick enough to put my bow in a disk.

yeah weapon fire hits everything...just have to be fast. fire mages are very deadly especially in numbers.between the certainty of wounds upon killing them, weapon fire, fire cloud, major e-wave, and boil earth. they are very good at quickly taking you out when they are in numbers. i suggest getting to know the people of Teras. many of which if they know where you hunt and they know you will come get you. when i was up there i only decayed twice in fire mages because it was 4am and no one was awake kind of thing every other time someone came. deaths are just a part of hunting them is what im trying to say :)

but in regards to the death gaze, any flare that kills them will prevent that I believe. Not just ice flares.

I had no idea sniping them would stop them casting major ewave.

it doesn't stop major e-wave...stops the death gaze as long as you're not revealed from hiding when it happens :)
