As the title says, I didn't get collectors edition, but a friend of mine has already started on Iron Rock, so I'll be doing my order PvE on that server. Anyone have any preference for a Destruction RvR server?

I think I"ll go order, mainly because the queue times for destruction are going to suck come release.

I demand full reviews on Warhammer on my desk in the morning.

Eh.. I'm not that impressed with Warhammer.. so I doubt I'm going to buy it. I'm more likely to stick with WoW and wait for their next expansion.. roll up a deathknight and destroy everything that is magical.

I enjoyed the open beta, a lot.

Then again, I loved AOC during beta too :(

yeah can only report on how beta went. But I like the casualness of it. You can quest, you can pvp or do realm quests where you just join in and help. Only made it to 14 in Beta so of course not sure on how the upper levels were.

Loot and gold were easy to get.
Quests were easy very WOW like
Need a group there is a function where you look to see if there are any around and you can just join it. Don't want people to join your group then just a click away.
PVP you have scenarios which are like battleground there are ones in each race's lands and they are all a bit different some like AB some are just a all out war last group standing type of thing. Or you rvr places were its open warfare with the other fraction with goals inside a city or keep. Once you get older level 11 and up you can start using siege weapons to help take keeps and castles.
When you join a pvp group you are bumped up to a decent level like level 8 if you are 1 etc. Helps to let you enjoy even if lower levels.
Artwork is cartoony but I never worried about that AOC had wonderful lifelike characters and well they all dressed the same. You can dye your clothing and armor so not everyone is a total copy.
Lag was extremely decent and you didn't need a mega computer to run it.
I tried both chaos (bad) and order (good) and while they definitely made chaos the cooler looking group order side had no queue times and you could always find matches.
Fighting seemed clunky not even up to WOW standards, but the engineers were so fund to watch dwarves who can drop a gun turret anytime the wanted heh
Healing is the HOTs way Shadow warriors (hunters) were actually kinda boring, Tanks looked fun, Bright wizards (mage like) were very popular. Chaos side like half nekkid women wearing all black heh

All in all I think it will find a niche. I don't see it being the mega monster but for fun with pvp and not worrying if you have enough resilience or gear. I really gave AOC a shot but unless they do something drastic its dead. This game will appeal to some who are tired of WOW or looking for something to play that doesn't demand you be able to play 8 hours a day.

I've been playing at randomly shitty times to play.

I've been working 3rd shift, then dodging the lady when I can to log on for an hour or so.

Next couple of days I'm going to sleep, eat, shit, and play warhammer.

Thoughts?

I'm seriously considering upgrading the box so I can rock a stunty iron breaker.

I think it pwns so far. I'm only 5 though.

Are you a social misfit looking for like-minded morlocks to play games with? Do you operate under the misguided assumption that Warhammer Orc-speak is anything more than baby talk designed to make adult male virgins purr like kittens? Are you the kind of hardened combat expert that can be counted on to not only stare menacingly at enemy forces but to run away at the first sign of trouble? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, Destruction is for you! Waaagh or whatever!

Are you congenitally incapable of making sound tactical decisions? If you spy a sea of red names, are you inexorably drawn toward it like a slob to a Baconator? Are inept teammates solely responsible for every death you've ever experienced in an MMO? The Order army is accepting applications from thin-skinned PVE-champion crybabies just like you!

What is it about after level 16 that makes it boring? I think heard someone else say this too on the WoW forums.

I'm up to 12 now, and I'm having a blast, love the game. Have three other RL friends right there and we own the scenarios (being on vent, coordination makes a huge difference... of course these are early levels so everyone else is uncoordinated, I'm sure later we'll actually have to try)

I did the pre-order and it is still sitting in an unopened box on my desk. Weren't we supposed to get a limited edition miniature with the pre-order? the DVD case style box I have does not look big enough to have one in it.

I rolled a bright wizard on Iron Rock because dark elf males are 578349579x even gayer than night elves which made playing a sorcerer suck ass. Plus sorcerer spells have weak ass barely even audible sounds effects, (at least up to 13), while bright wizards have big explosive sounds of pwnage at level 1, which didn't help.

The instant queues on Order are nice though. Is there a guild or anything? If so someone send me an invite or tell me to who to contact.

any new reviews?

The limited edition figure came with the collector's edition not the regular pre-order. I'm still loving the game though my highest is only level 13 so far.

Is the Order/Destruction population imbalance really as bad as people say it is? People say it's like 3-5:1 destruction/order ratios.

Celephais
09-29-2008, 08:08 AM
I'd believe that kind of discrepency, order queues are fucking awesome in comparison.

I can host a vent server if we make a guild on ironrock. I haven't heard of any other PCers on Ironrock, but me and a couple friends play on it consistently. (17-14ish) I'm Cthulhu, Ironbreaker.

the order/destruction balance is slanted towards destruction for most servers but there are a few that are even or order heavy too. I'm on Avelorn and it's one of the order heavy ones.

War is just DAoC crossed with WoW, except with shittier graphics that WoW, a few warhammer models and an undeserved sense of accomplishment.

Warhammer Age of Reckoning = fail.

I'm having a blast with it, and I never really enjoyed DAoC.

Yeah I didn't last a week in DAOC yet so far still having some fun. I have a level 16 archmage healer who can dps woot and a 21 witch. I like to do a combo of scenarios, pq's and questing. I don't think of it as a gotta do anything kinda game just level when I want pvp when I want.

Someone hit me up @ Methais on Iron Rock and let's go pwn.

Bright Wizards are a ridiculous amount of pwnage, for the record.

And here's an awesome post someone made about it that's 100% true. For those that don't know, the way a bright wizard works is casting spells builds up Combustion (maxed at 100). The higher your Combustion, the higher chance you have to crit, the higher your crit damage bonus will be, and the higher chance you have to take damage from casting spells. When maxed, you have a 50% increased crit chance, 50% increased critical damage, and a 50% chance to take damage yourself, with the chance to take damage obviously being the tradeoff for having such insane damage output:

Yes I admit it and I am not ashamed. I would rather die than use Meltdown. I long for massive damage and crazy crits. I get hard for a well placed detonate. If that Fiery Blast damage doesn't pop in the big bold numbers I am disappointed.

Healer: "How are you getting hit???"

Yes I am damaging myself. I am damaging myself for you. I suffer for my team, yes! Healers should focus on healing me because I am the damage, and I am the light. There are tanks who are my meatshield, and there are healers who are my lifeline, and there are some other classes that run around to try to distract the other team from ME. Yes, the Bright Wizard IS your team and the Bright Wizard is your God.

Healers please pay extra attention to us if you want to win the scenario.

"It just isn't fair, why should the Bright Wizards get extra attention, they should just use Meltdown and cool that Combustion!"

Why don't you just focus on healing me so we can win?

Remember, we are suffering for YOU.

http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121182

It's true. Bright Wizards (or sorcerers for Destruction) with 100 Combustion / Dark Magic + a good healer will slaughter the whole map.

Why couldn't WoW mages be like this? :(
