Orange short shorts and Miami Dolphins gear.

Huh? Oh, yeah, I need to deposit my last paycheck at BoA and hopefully there'll be more tellers on the job so I feel awkward for less amounts of time. I hate standing on line at the bank.

i love this part: "Fuld ultimately gambled almost four times the firm's shareholder equity last year on mortgage securities that he insisted were hedged by other bets."

greedy people like this should be cockpunched once every hour for the rest of their lives.

What's not to like about Bank of America? Is this like the 'I hate Microsoft' type mentality?

I can understand disliking a specific branch due to piss poor customer service (then again, it's been about 2 years since I've actually been inside a bank).. but a whole company?

I think there are many more bank failures on the way. In my area, Wachovia and Washington Mutual look more and more like they will fail.

Wachovia just bought out AG Edwards. I dont see them in trouble anytime soon unless someone pulled what happened at Merril and it has not been disclosed yet. Couldnt comment on WaMu other than we did a lot of deals with WaMu in the subprime end so I know they are exposed to the risks of that market moreso than entities like Chase, CitiBank, or Wachovia.

BofA is setting itself up for a prime position in the banking market. First Countrywide and now Merril Lynch - for a great price. Whoever is running that show is on a mission.

well, AIG isn't under yet, but it's pretty clear where the shit is headed. They're seeking emergency funding from the Fed, and after Bear Stearns and Fannie/Freddie, I don't think much more money is forthcoming.

I've had multiple issues with multiple BoA branches. I've also had problems with their corporate CS people.

For me, it's the company I dislike, and I won't do business with them.

I agree. I've never banked with them, but from all the slimy junkmail I get from them, I wouldn't ever bank with them.

My business and primary checking accounts are through Chase.

I have separate accounts with a local bank (know the founder) and my retirement accounts from previous employers (rollovers) are with AG Edwards/Wachovia.

I'm really satisfied with Chase and their customer service has been great.

And let me just say that those who only bank at a local bank and said local bank loses power - you can forget trying to use your ATM card to pull cash out. Having accounts with a national banking chain FTW.

I have two accounts with two different banks, one of them is BofA, and that's only because they bought out Fleet, which bought out BankBoston, which I opened an account with about 10 years ago when I moved to Boston. I think BofA kinda sucks too.

Bank of America has fucked me over more than a few times and I've spent countless hours on my phone yelling at them for fuck-ups and stupid things they've done. I hate Bank of America-- I hate everything about them. I hate that during the holidays they add in your overdraft to the total amount of your checking, never mind they ding you $30 each time you dip into it. I hate that they have shitty customer service, I hate that when you're applying for a home equity loan and you're under 25 years old they look for every and any excuse to not give it to you (even if your credit is damn near perfect) and the entire process takes weeks longer than it normally would.

I use a local credit union and I'm happy with them. I may not have the nationwide access but they do a lot to make their customers happy-- for instance they pay for the fee for us to use other bank's ATMs, free checking, getting our home equity line through them after selling the last apartment was simple, and you couldn't ask for better customer service.

Chase has been very good to me; they're my primary and I'm quite satisfied with their service all around.

I also bank with a local credit union that I've patronized since I was a kid. Love the hometown atmosphere of the place and it's a great starting point for a kid to learn the appreciation of saving a dollar.

I use a CU too. Never had any problems with anything at all.

Merril Lynch sucks/ed, so i'm not surprised they went under; they were in charge of overseeing my grandfather's accounts before he died in 1999. He had his money in the least aggressive fund they had, and they still lost money. Learning to objectively view the market/economics is one of those skills I believe they should teach every kid in HS. The idea of letting any of these people touch my money scares the crap out of me.

I use Wells Fargo myself. Great service, and when my family opened a safe deposit box, they walked us through the process and answered all our questions, and didn't mind making the account changes we realized we needed right then too.

The funny thing is, the BofA buyout of ML is the good thing that happened this weekend. Hope my best friend is bailing from AIG quick...

I'm with Wachovia and I've never had any complaints except for the fact that they are closing the branch down the street from my office.

Moving all my stuff here tommorrow, ATM, home loan, etc.

I'll be working with them on a few real estate transactions I have in mind.

Best of all, I know the CEO and CFO and I am an investor in the startup to hopefully help out the city and bring a little competition to the market.

Well, the real best part is they have no real estate exposure, since they just opened their doors and only really for the investors (about 400 people who put up the 10m they needed to get their operating certificate.)

If you are in the Western MA region worth a look. Completely free ATMs (no matter what network you use) is just the start of their good customer service.
