ITS THE BOMB.

Dont eat for at least 16 hours (24 if you're a girly-man).

There's more food there than lawfully allowable. And I'm talking BEEF. Not wimpy ass cuisine.

We have one here in Houston on Richmond Ave.

Its not cheap, but plan on getting your eat on if you go.

Wait staff make rounds by each table bringing the different courses. Dont make the mistake of filling up on the veggies or pre-main course food.

There's one in minneapolis, it's exceptionally good. I think it's $50, wine/drinks extra, and people wander around with huge sticks of sirloin, tenderloin, chicken, sausage, all perfectly cooked, and slice it off on your plate as you eat. The buffet- style salad bar is far more than that, it's all top notch stuff. Only go if you're into the beef thing, and lots of it.

waywardgs is right on the price. It was over 100 for me and the mrs. to eat there. I would say the price is equivalent to eating out at a good quality steak house - but with more food. ;)

I haven't tried that one, but there's a similar Brazilian steakhouse called "Chiba" here in Tyson's Corner. It's around $50 per person, and they walk around with various cuts of meat, including bacon-wrapped chicken that was pretty good.

It's more of an "experience" than just a meal.. I wouldn't go very often, but it's worth trying. Like other people said, make sure you go when you're hungry! And don't fill up on the bread/salad they try to pawn off on you. :o

I do love Brazilian meat buffets. When you find that everything, even the chicken liver, is awesome, it's gotta be good.

no Fogo in NYC = sad rob.

but i've had friends who went to it in DC. what they said aligns with everything posted above. eat a light breakfast and then prepare to get your beef on.

When i spent a few weeks traveling around brazil, i went to a bunch of churrascarias. depending on where you are (the ones in rio aren't all that friendly unless you're shelling out a lot of money), these are some of the friendliest, most welcoming restaurants I've ever experienced. and so much fucking food.

let me know how the meal goes.

Looks a lot like Texas de Brazil, which I've been to in Orlando and here in Richmond. If that is the case... yeah, just don't eat that day. I get a little bit from TdB's soup/salad bar (I feel bad calling it that, 'cause it's so much more awesome than any other restaurant's) to help balance out all the meat, and just totally enjoy the experience.

I plan on about $125 for the husband and me, using a coupon either for a free meal or for meals at 1/2 price, to include the meal, an alcoholic drink or two for each of us, a shared dessert and tip (about 20-25% out of total love for the people who work there and never make us feel like we should get out after 2 or 3 hours).

I've never been to Fogo, but I've been to a couple of these types of restaurants.. and didn't have that great of an experience. Sure it's all you can eat... but the meat really wasn't that good. If I'm going out to spend $50 bucks a plate, I'm going to go for some really good steak.

Hopefully, Fogo has better quality meat than what I experienced.. as well as cooking it to order (all the meat that came to our table was between medium well and well)

Actually "my" first car was a Dodge Aspen.. and living in upstate NY, there was more rust on it than actual metal. It was my sister's car, but she felt it was completely unsafe.. seeing how you could see the road beneath your feet as you drove :)

It looked like this, only ugly rust covered tan with rust holes all over it.

make sure you try almost everything before getting seconds on anything.

If I remember, the skirt steak was by far the best cut.

The filet was pretty bad. The pork ribs were outstanding.

Yeah, you know, I gotta say I've been pleasantly surprised at my M&S experiences. I've gone to the one in DC twice and the one in NY once. They list the fresh fish on the top of the menu each day, and I've always ordered from that. I can't speak to the quality of the rest of their menu, but the fresh stuff was pretty good.

I'm not sure if a bad Brazillian steak house exists. Samba, Brasa, Gauchos ... every one of them an assault on kosher eating and hella worth it. Just make sure you try it all, from beef to lamb ... chicken to goose.

Not in Atlanta. The plain filet and the bacon-wrapped filet are both amazing. Tender, juicy, bloody, nomnom. And nothing has too much of spice or smoke or anything except the garlic beef, imho. It's a little much for me so I don't get that cut.

We go there now for pretty much all birthdays, and we went there a couple weeks ago for our 5 year anniversary.

And we're having our wedding dinner there. Yes, we really enjoy Fogo, lol.

Anticor, i'd suggest you double-up on the pork loin, the chicken wings, and the parmesan-crusted pork. They are fucking amazing.

The filet and the bottom sirloin are probably my favorite cuts of red meat.

Anyone been to Daisy May's in NYC? They showed their giant beef ribs on the Food Network the other day, and I am about to drive down there tomorrow just for the ribs. Worth it?

I've only been to their midtown food cart, where they don't serve ribs, but I thought their BBQ chicken and pulled pork was delicious. As far as NY BBQ goes, Daisy is a great choice. The food cart fare is all prepared at the main place and served in wrapped-up plastic containers, so it's not the same kind of street meat you find at a lot of other carts.

And before I hear from the southerners in the house, yes, I understand that NY BBQ on the whole is not as good as its counterpart below the Mason-Dixon line, but that does not make it inedible. Also, we have better deli.

Southern BBQ is made to fall off the bone to compensate for the lack of teeth possessed by the general eater of said BBQ.

That was a damn tasty experience. Thanks for putting the notion of going there into my mind, Anticor. The date loved it too.

I have not stopped thinking of this place now, thanks Anticor! Will quell this urge at nearest opportunity.

I love Fogo de Chao. If you have clients this is the perfect place for schmoozing. The food is great and the waiters are knowledgable enough about the liquor to suggest what would go well with your menu. Very chic. I approve!

FYI Fogo was awesome. I ate way too damn much. Had a great time and I'll be taking my father at the end of this month.

Keller, Filet was actually pretty good, nice and rare and good flavor.

I can't say that there was any of the meats that I didn't enjoy but if I had to pick a least favorite I would say the lamb was a touch too minty for my tastes.

Cheesecake was awesome, wine was good. Their house drink (kind of like a Brazillian mojito I guess) tasted like a lime foot, wouldn't reccomend it.

probably a caipirinha. it's the national drink of brazil. and when it's made well, it's quite good.

Cheesecake should be eaten plain. Putting anything else on or in it should be a felony =D!

If you think cheesecake should be eaten plain, go to a Cheesecake Factory and see if that doesn't change your opinion.

You can make a pretty killer cheesecake (on par with the cheesecake factories) pretty easily. It's not really any cheaper to make but the only real hard part is baking it properly and a little diligence can make that pretty easy to overcome.
