I'm not a fan of the christmas tree tattoo collage. As weird as it sounds I think it looks tacky. Although, my first big tattoo, the rose, is in color I think it gives a nice contrast to everything else.

I think when I finally finish a full sleeve I'll try and have one item in the middle in color to stand out. I just need to figure out what I'd want that to be.

I got my tattoo after having my son and doing it all on my own. I have a personal faith, I am Christian, but it's more on my own. I'm not fond of the hypocrisy of Churches.

God seemed to be guiding a lot of my decisions and where doors closed, other doors opened.

I need to fix it but the heart is purple and the flowers are supposed to be pink. The artist who did it wanted to put green spiderwebs around it said it fit me.

Anyway that is why I got it.

I been meaning to reply to this for awhile, just been too busy (read drunk). Mostly because at first glance my tat is completely cheap and meaningless. But to me, it has *alot* of symbolism, even if it's still cheap..heh.

This, as most know, is the symbol from the Zombie Survival Guide.

I've had dreams about rotting, walking corpses chasing me in droves since before I could pronounce the word zombie or even seen a movie about them. Still do. Although the dreams were nightmares then, they're alot of fun now. Fuckers have never caught me. So, nowadays, I carry a pretty (un?)healthy enjoyment for all things zombie - as does the woman I ended up being with who has a tat to match mine. Therein lies the other bit of symbolism. I got that tat on my six year anniversary. It was something she and I could get together, that was uniquely our own and yet ours together. It also symbolized the fact that I had actually survived six years.

I also needed to see if my skin could take being tattooed. So, though I have several ideas for great and meaningful tats, I didn't want to spend $200+ on something my skin might fuck up.

That tat fit every requirement - not too expensive or grandiose, meaningful to me, pertinent to the occasion.

I've only heard of a couple reasons people get tattoos, they look cool, they have meaning, or they're drunk... some combination thereof (There's also the functional (http://scienceblogs.com/bushwells/ruler-tattoo.jpg)). If they think it looks cool, good for them.

Could be a size/noticability issue too, or not realizing that a skilled enough artist could stylize the same meaning in english to look as cool or cooler.

I'm of the general opinion that if someone gets something tattoo'd on themselves, they've got to live w/ it, not me.
