Question please?

I've got a young rogue, been mostly hunting, but slowly working on learning to disarm and lockpick. I've heard some things that confused me. I was listening to some other rogues who were talking about 'modding' a box. I have no clue what that meant. Could someone explain it to me?

Everytime you see the lock size but don't actually open it, you get a modifier to your next attempt. So, in effect, you can open it with a lower roll which is what people mean by modding it.

If you see the lock size, you basically get +10 to future attempts on that box.

If you get the "you get the feeling it's within your abilities" message, same thing but +5.

Or something to that extent.
