What trash... poor Metallica. Well, rich Metallica, but poor them for sacrificing their quality of music simply because their producer likes money...

In all reality, they could've continued to make insane cash on tour without ever releasing another album,... Which makes it that much sadder that they're force-feeding all of this garbage down our throats live, instead of the decent music we paid to see. :(

I am going to reserve judgment until after I hear the final mix that hits the press. Their past few albums have been a great disappointment though.

Dude, seriously? WTF are you talking about? This album is the best shit they have put out since the black album. Load, Reload, St. Anger, and S&M were pure shit. This stuff is hearkening back to the old school in a major way, by comparison. I can't see how people can complain about this album.

EDIT: And yes, the real album sounds much better. The Radio/TV station I used to work for let me listen to the advance copy they got. This shit sounds scratchy and nasty compared to the final cuts.

Agreed, although the one I really hated was St. Anger. It was fucking awful and I refused to buy it.

However, from what i've heard of this album so far (and excluding the first half of The Day That Never Comes), i'm really liking it. :D

Totally agreed, except I liked Load, lol. I KNOES STFU.

Seriously though, i'm excited for Friday.

its simple...when a band tries TOO HARD to get back to what made them money they miss the point. what made that band great was the i guess you could say, 'the heavy metal harmony' and my beef with this new album (that they played start to finish on the radio recently) is that they tried too hard and missed the mark of what they can do.

as far as black album being their last good album...i agree to an extent, i liked a few songs on load, and reload, and even S&M had no leaf clover...and if you've heard no leaf clover without the orchestra you'd probably enjoy it at great length as i did. as far as st. anger is concerned...i don't even recognize st. anger as an album because it has to be music to be an album and what they did...was not music. shit sounded like an elephant with a serious case of constipation farting into a microphone while masterbating, fantasizing of great tunes.

Meh, this one's decent at least compared to their post-Black album trash. But that's not exactly saying much. I'm not impressed.

To summarize:

- It's less shitty than post-Black albums
- I've had extreme diarrhea that was less shitty than the post-Black albums
- Being less shitty =/= good.

Drigore's player showed me a few of their songs from this album. Give up Metallica, please.

Its not that bad of an album, its just never going to be as good as the old stuff.

Also, its been leaked for about 2 weeks; some guy from Japan leaked it.

Nothing will ever be - I think that's evident by now. I still like this album tho.

Lars needs to stop using that steel snare. Sounds horrible.

Yea, you can tell Lars just cannot keep up in some of the tracks.

And drum tracks make rock music.

You guys lay off of Lars. He never fully recovered from the whole Napster incident. I have it on good authority he had an anuerism as a result of all that.

WTF am I talking about? I'm talking about the bullshit that Metallica is pretty much mailing in at this point. Look, they changed rock as a genre damn near single-handedly at one point, but now they're just stale old men who can't put together anything worth listening to (oh yeah, and one douchebag bassist who hasn't done anything relevant since he joined the band).

Look, I love Metallica for what they gave to the genre that was otherwise struggling, but Rock doesn't need them anymore, at least not in this form. Rock needs the Metallica that gave us the classic songs that are still played damn near five times a day on every rock station from Seattle to Providence.

I still don't understand the point of them diminishing their already legendary careers by releasing this kind of watered down crap. They could easily tour with the quality music that got them their money and fame in the first place, and nobody would really even complain if their show was stale. You pay for Master of Puppets, you pay for One, you pay for Enter Sandman, you DON'T pay for the trash they've been giving us ever since. Why add more to said trash, lengthening the shows even more than they already were to begin with, and forcing the fans to listen to the crap before we can enjoy ourselves? I will not be buying tickets to any event of theirs after the lackluster (at best) show they put on post-St. Anger in Madison, WI. Had they played simply the music we all were there for, it would've been amazing, but instead we were stuck waiting through fourty minutes of heavy breathing and SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINNTTTT ANGERURURUROUND MAAA NEEEEWK! Ugh...

Um, I saw them play several years ago and they played like.. one (or two, maybe, but I think one) song off of St. Anger. It was a fucking awesome show and my only regret was that they didn't play Sanitarium. So WTF are you talking about?

last time i seen them was row 3 January 1st, 2000 just before releasing s&m. completely amazing show. like you said since S&M was comming out soon they played 1 off of that one and only 1 off of reload. Every time I've seen them on tour they would play 1 maybe 2 new songs rest was just awesome tracks like the thing that should not be, and creeping death, classics <3

Well St. Anger came out about a year before I saw them. I saw them in April of '04. So while I guess St. Anger was considered new in comparison to the good shit, it wasn't brand new or anything. And they STILL only played one crappy song off it.

Have heard most of the new album and not a fan. The sound still is not right and James' voice is not there anymore.

Am loving the new Iced Earth cd though.
