Yep...go make yourself an 11x halberd.

I'm pretty sure it counts the first enchant as a major project, from what I heard. I haven't tried it since the release of the naginata base.

Nope! I've enchanted plenty of naginatas to 4x while my major projects have been running.

Naginatas=uber.

Well shit. HALBERDS FOR LIFE!

I'd rather have a 4x lance than a 11x halberd :(

Its been awhile so forgive me. Naginatas are natural +20 correct?

So if you have a vultite naginata, thats +20 natural and +20 from the vultite for a total of +40 to AS?

Also, quick PC - vultite naginata is worth? Seems on playershops the cheapest is 1.25M, is this accurate?

Well you get +20 of the bonus in the AvD. So if all you care about is having a big pretty AS number it won't help. But it's just as effective as having +40 AS.

Not any more. It has a +20 to avd instead, which in essence is the same bonus to your endroll, but in a different form. It's actually better this way, because if you get your standard naginata to +35, it's essentially an 11x halberd with the avd bonus.

A vultite naginata is still +20 to AS, 1.25m is a little steep IMO, but not ridiculous. I think you can get one for like 1m at the erithian shop on the way to Illi.

if i have an unconverted naginata, and enchant it, then get it converted... will the gm converting it take the enchant away?

The enchant will stay. If you have a 4x old-style naginata, in retrospect, it is actually a 8x halberd - thus giving you +40 to your AS over a normal 0x halberd or +20 to your AS over a 4x halberd.

When you get your naginata converted, that extra +20 bonus to your AS is actually just moved to the AvD. The enchant would stay the same.

Here's a quick example. This is what an old-style naginata swing would look like with a 0x naginata:

You swing an orange naginata at a giant rat!
AS: +114 vs DS: +14 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +97 = +227
... and hit for 95 points of damage!
Hard slash to the giant rat's side!
Left arm no longer available for use.
The giant rat shrieks as it slumps to the ground and licks at its wounded left foreleg.
The giant rat twitches and dies.

Now, we get that old-style naginata converted to a new-style and this is what you would get:

You swing an orange naginata at a giant rat!
AS: +94 vs DS: +14 with AvD: +50 + d100 roll: +97 = +227
... and hit for 95 points of damage!
Hard slash to the giant rat's side!
Left arm no longer available for use.
The giant rat shrieks as it slumps to the ground and licks at its wounded left foreleg.
The giant rat twitches and dies.

The +20 to my AS moved over to the AvD. The end result is still the same.

Just watch out when you do the conversion. Some old naginatas were a bit wonky in that their enchant level didn't include the natural +20 they were supposed to. I bought a mithril naginata (halberd base) that was only +5, not +25, and when I converted it, it dropped to a -15 enchant. I assisted and got it fixed, but the GM seemed reluctant to do so, for some stupid reason.

Why do people want Naginatas? Srsly?

Blinded by AS? I agree. Go with the lance.

It's a speed thing. Especially at lower levels, a lot of characters just don't have the agidex to use a lance effectively.

What is this "lower levels" you speak of?

(I guess that makes more sense though)

Some people only have 6 digits of experience, Dan. ;)

1 million for a vultite naginata? What the fuck? I thought I came out on top when I sold the old-style I converted just after the conversion for like 300k.
