I just watched it on On Demand. This is quite possibly the worst dialogue I've ever seen in a series. It's almost painful to listen to. And their accents are fucking horrible. I don't know a single person from here who talks like any of them. It's more of a South Carolina twang.

I know a ton of people like it, but I have seriously tried watching it under many different conditions and just can't get into it. I get seriously bored or annoyed within 15 minutes and either turn off the TV or change the channel. I even gave it another chance after Michael Scott said "hug it out, bitch" during an Office episode.

It was strange for me because I've loved a few HBO series/shows: Rome, Big Love, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Deadwood.

I really wanted to like Entourage. I just don't. :/

I watched Season 1 but never caught Season 2.

I liked it, but like most shows based on historical fact, you know how the plot is going to move and such which makes it as hard for you to feel attached to the characters.

Dexter is an awesome series. If the idea intrigues you, definitely check out Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay-- it's the book the series was based off of and worth the read.

Ferrets have been domesticated for over 2,500 years. They aren't wild. Ferrets are incapable of surviving without human succoring and if released, unlike cats and dogs, they will usually die from accident, predation or dehydration/starvation within a week. Don't believe me? They're the third most popular pet in the USA; seen any strays lately?

As for the attack not having a reason, I'll just say that I think Sookie is a threat to Maryanne just by the possibility of her 'taking' Tara away when she asked her to move in together.

I'm liking the show, but a lot of the characters are either overstaying their welcome (*especially* Marianne) or are REALLY annoying. Godric was cool at first, but his character turned really ham-fisted at the end (how could he stop a superfast vampire--Bill's maker--from sinking her fangs into Sookie, but not stop/sense a human suicide bomber, especially considering 1) his speed, 2) his sense of hearing after he said "this is from the Fellowship"/etc). Just seemed like a cheap plot device.

I like Eric and Lafayette a lot. Sam and Andy teeter between being okay/funny, to being whiny and obnoxious. Jason is fun to look at, but his character is so _mindbogglingly_ stupid. I do like the Jessica/Hoyt/Hoyt's mother plot line, so far. Tara is okay; I like Eggs, but there's not much depth there.

Sookie is "okay" when she's not flipping out and acting both simultaneously as an irrational, tantrum-throwing six grader and a pretentious, "I know better than everyone else" cunt. They haven't really gone into Bill, much.

Like others, I wish they'd stop ending on the frustrating cliffhangers.. and while I enjoy all the "gay fanservice," and obvious parallels to the gay rights movement, it lacks subtlety a lot of the time.

After five story building and slightly uneventful episodes things are finally picking up in this last episode of True Blood. I know there were grumblings about the show kind of losing its focus this season but I believe that any story with that many characters takes time to develop. The dialogue is still as cheesy as ever and Lafayette's new love interest makes for some embarrassingly long man on man flirting yet I still love this show. Like Sons of Anarchy it is a guilty pleasure.

Now Justified, that show has some great dialogue :)

I recommend reading them. They're campy and silly but fun to read and True Blood diverts enough from the book storyline that I don't feel like the series is ruined/spoiled at all.

One of the reasons I really love the series is that it honors the vampire archetype. They don't walk around in daylight or sparkle like Tinkerbell. Being virtually immortal with supernatural powers should have some drawbacks more inconvenient than drinking blood to live.

So, regarding Godric (highlight after to read):

In the books, Godric was a pedophile and according to the books (and something they've sort of followed in True Blood) sex and feeding goes hand in hand.. i.e. a gay vampire would prefer to feed from a same-sexed human, etc. Godric has been alive even longer than Eric (read: thousands of years) and thus has hurt/killed/molested many, many children. He's disgusted and sick with himself and because of his guilt feels humans have a right to hate and despise vampires for being monsters. His death in the book and the way Sookie handles his death signifies a major turning point for Eric and for the way Eric perceives Sookie. I can't see Godric coming back after having faced the sun, anyway- it wouldn't make sense plot-wise for either story and would defeat one of the few hard limitations the vampires have.

I agree, but the preview for the next episode seems to show Bill becoming a Daywalker. He walks out into the sunlight, looks down at his hands and realizes they're not burning. I'm probably wrong, since previews always try to trick you. I hope Blade just shows up and kills them all.

Jason should get werewolfed because he's making me crazy. And NOW they're giving Lafayette a love interest? And there's something going on with that guy who is now living with the redheaded waitress. They keep alluding to this abnormal life he was living but they never elaborate or explain him at all. That has been bugging me out most of all.

At this point I only watch it for Eric and Jessica.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I didn't think the finale was that bad. I'm consistently charmed by the writer's willingness to make these characters so uncool (or if you'd rather: vulnerable). I think the season's arcs (Russel, Jason/Panthergirl, Merlotte/Little Merlotte, Hoyt/Jessica, TERRY/thatstupidbitch, Lafayette/GacialHair, Tara/Franklin) were pretty fucking fun. In any event I liked it quite a bit more than season 2.

I think part of me LIKES when shows don't give me what I want. For the 30 seconds I thought evil Bill existed, I was excited! Then evil Bill just starting crying like normal Bill. eh.

It's genre television and for someone that swears all allegiance to the Buffy/Angel universe of genre television, I'm consistently surprised by how much I enjoy the hour that this show is on. It might be because it's the first example of this type of show that is self-consciously not-cult. I think this might be my excuse for the bad writing-slash-totally fucking groan-worthy lines of dialogue. It's lowest common denominator, but it's something we've known since the third episode when Jason eggplanted his penis.

Anyway, whatever, the ending. You can say the cliffhangers are lazy, I'll say I think the show has elevated it to a douche art. Will I be feverishly downloading it next season? Yes.

Oh I don't read the books, so I dunno what's going on there.

Sara suffered, Micke and Johan blushed and Malin, whose mum was a nurse, held a detailed lecture on the importance of keeping a sprained foot still. Putte, who loved to discuss, broke Malin’s lecture off. He claimed that his mum was a foot doctor and that a sprained foot on the contrary should be active. Wild debate arose.

I myself had no opinion on sprained feet, so I went into Malin’s room and put on a Roxette record. Soon Micke came in and asked me if we could share a beer he nicked from his brother. We felt terribly cool, sitting there sipping beer like Micke’s brother and his pals used to do. Micke turned up the volume on the stereo in the hopes that some of the girls would come in and see how cool we were. Soon Emma came in to ask us to turn it down. When she saw us drinking alcohol she started crying terribly and called us alcoholics. Micke comforted her and said that he could control his drinking (which, a few years later, he proved that he definitely couldn’t). Emma accepted this and she and Micke started making out.

Pretty soon they became breathless, and we played Super Mario Bros instead. Micke had just won when an excited Johan came barging in and told us that they were playing truth or dare in Malin’s mum’s bed. Anyone who has played truth or dare knows that it’s a wonderful game, because you get to hear a lot of half true dirty stories and you get to, most importantly, make out. A few seconds later I had joined the others in the bed. The half truths were already pouring out. Erik claimed, among others, that he had a girlfriend in Öland. This was a kindly put halftruth. Erik had certainly fallen in love with a girl he had seen in Borgholm some months earlier. The problem was just that she never saw him.

Soon I got my first question. It was Malin who wondered how many I had had sex with. Some critical seconds followed. Should I tell about my innocence or should I act experienced? I answered eight. The summer before Lisen Jacobsen had shown me her bare breasts on a rapeseed field in Denmark, but we had definitely not slept with each other. So eight was probably more of a lie than a half truth. The guys, who knew I lied, nodded in agreement the same way I did when they stretched the truth a little. The game went on for some time and then it died slowly down. One by one went out of the game.
Some went out and checked out a karate movie in the living room, and others started to whip up chocolate mousse in the kitchen. Soon me and Malin were alone in the bed.

- I don’t know, I answered really fast.

We had certainly made out a few times during the game, but it was way harder now when we were alone in the enormous bed. Malin saved me by asking if I had tried the new lip gloss with strawberry taste. I answered no and Malin pressed her glossed, strawberry tasting lips against mine. We kissed for approximately as long as the strawberry taste lasted, then she whispered:

I got all sweaty and felt dizzy. Malin continued:

The emotions sprayed out of my ears. Joy that I might be the first one among my friends who would lose my virginity, and terror that I might fail and that Malin would see through my lie about my earlier experiences. Both my hopes and my fears came true. We had sex in the end and I was the first one among my friends. But Malin probably started wondering what happened when I ruined two condoms before I even had them on. And when I tried to enter her somewhere between her knee and her hip, she was pretty convinced that my earlier experiences were made up. She helped me and I found the right place.

Ten seconds later we were lying next to each other looking up in the ceiling.

- It was the first time for you too, right?
I lay silent a while but realized that I could not cover another lie.
- Yes, I answered embarrassed.
- Don’t worry, I won’t tell the others.

She smiled at me and I smiled back. We were lying there in the weak light from the billboard on the other side of the street and smiled at each other. I was a man and I smiled at a woman. And on the other side of the bedroom door the snotty little kids were making chocolate mousse and watching a karate movie.
