For real though? I think Lesnar is way over his head with this one. But I'm going to eat it up like candy, anyways.

Interesting side note - I've heard through rumor (but not seen anywhere) that the winner of this fight will get the winner of a Mir/Nog fight.

FYI

Discover channel is running a fight science series this month on UFC fighters as compared to their previous testing with boxers, pure martial arts, etc.

Its a must see. I'm putting it on DvD next time it airs.

Ho.....ly...... shit......

Yeah, Lesnar may be in for it, but does it really seem THAT lopsided knowing what we do?

-Couture hates fighting against guys with big hands.

-Lesnar has, literally, the largest hands in the UFC, and he knows how to use them.

-Couture has serious issues when on the wrong side of half-guard and full mount, two positions which Lesnar is guaranteed to be in at some, if not several points in the fight.

-Couture has been away from the fight game more than long enough to have an effect. He may be able to get back into fighting shape, but he hasn't been a fighter for the last several months.

-Couture usually has the advantage against anyone he faces, in terms of wrestling. This will DEFINATELY not be the case, as while Couture's stellar resume includes Olympic alternate status, Lesnar is likely one of (if not the best) the world has ever seen in that category.

-Lesnar may be prone to getting trapped by a sly submission artist like Mir, but Couture is nothing of the kind. He doesn't really have the knockout power to take out Lesnar with a single blow, either, so I don't see how Couture wins by anything but decision, and three rounds seems like FAR too much time for Lesnar to work with for that to happen.

-Lesnar is a BIG, bonafide heavyweight, while Couture will have to do quite a bit to put on as much weight as possible simply to hang in there. He could very well come out sluggish due to the added weight, and even worse; he could opt against it and fight damned near lightweight...

-Couture is 45, and really has nothing to prove against someone like Lesnar. His glory fight (against Fedor) wont happen anywhere near his prime at this point, so I wouldn't be shocked to see him with his fists up half-hearted. If anyone can take advantage of that, it would be Brock, who utterly humiliated a game Heath Herring after he quickly realized he had no chance.

I don't know, it just seems like a lot, and I truly wouldn't be shocked to see Lesnar win here by KO or submission... It may be WAY too early for him to be put up against the top tier guys like Couture, but this IS only Couture... Had Brock been stuck against Fedor or Sylvia, I'm not sure we're talking about how much of a chance he has, rather than just rolling our eyes, saying a prayer for the man, and waiting to watch the replays on youtube.

Couture is gonna get mashed. Lesnar is a beast and Randy is past his prime. He should lose this fight so Fedor loses interest in fighting him, cause Fedor would roll Randy up and smoke him. I'll watch it though.

I think Lesnar is gonna win too. Apparently we are the only ones though, LOL.

I can't imagine Couture being more physical than Lesnar. If Randy gets him on the ground he could submit him ala Frank Mir, but you gotta imagine Lesnar is preparing for that. The last fight Randy had was back in August of 07. That's another year for him, he can't go on forever.

lesnar is going to gorilla punch the shit out of couture

edit: the more i think about this fight, the more absurd it becomes to me.

If you really think about it, Lesnar could really put a beating on Couture. Or vice versa. Its quite interesting.

so you're saying that you find it interesting that one of these guys will beat the other one up.

profundity abounds.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lesnar get beat up a bit. No one has landed a decent punch on the guy in all 3 of his fights. That needs to change.
