Are there really noobs in GS? How do they even find out about the game?
When I first started playing, for some reason I picked up "okies". I feel so ashamed.

That one makes me laugh. They mouth off, too. I usually Unbalance them if they're getting annoying. Nothing like being knocked on your ass to teach you manners.

I remember when I had my first character someone who was quiting gave me all their stuff, and, having no clue what to do, I attacked the kitten in town and was put in jail. I had no idea what to do, lost all the stuff and stopped playing.

Ask for DS checks. Usually in the park.
YES there are actually noobs trying out the game.
First thing they have to put up with is other players being disbelieving and jerking them around. IF they actually stand up to said 'jerk' they learn about death and get called a few names for standing their ground cause the jerk has been playing GS for so long they can be called a fossil.
GS have been doing something lately to draw players in. Not sure what or where, but it's working and a trickle of new blood and returning players have been seen.
Try being nice even if you don't think they are new. These days, there are so many RPG out there, chances are a good percentage know enough to get them by, the other percentage are just really lost and need a helping hand.
Commonn questions -
They take a look at you and ask instantly. NEAT how do I get one of those things. . . tattoo, piercing, nicer clothing, weapon. . . armor. . .
Why can't I use this uber weapon someone just gave me?
What else is there to do besides kill things?
How can I find other (insert profession) people? Most common answer is ask on the amulet which starts other problems.
It's tough starting a new game. There are so many clique's and do's and don'ts in GS that its even tougher then alot of those graphic games to start.
Hell, I have only been playing GS about 2 years now, and I still can remember the crap I had to go through,
An 80 train rogue stalking and killing me for telling them to watch what they say. It was bad enough mentors suggested I report them. I wasn't a week old and told to report someone? I refused. Second week, someone was proclaiming my character was a whore on the amulet. Cause I wouldn't cyber with them. Being a newbie, isn't the easiest go at it.
Getting off my soap box now... must find coffee. . .

Meh, I always give the benefit of the doubt. Or did when I was in noob starting towns (most of mine are on Teras now). Doesn't mean I wasn't snickering a little to myself.
Obsidian swords are badass, I don't care what anyone says.
:yeahthat:
I think someone should smelt down some obsidian and make a perfect weapon to enchant up. Then give it to me.

Wearing all black and dark stuff because they think it makes them Eeeeevil. (This excludes obsidian swords. They are badass. )
And sigils.
Another nooby thing-
Start playing with their RL family member (brother, sister or cousin) who plays a totally different race and claim in game to be full blood related. Hey I'm Esma the Elf and this is Bloodthunk the Giant, and he is my brother!!!one1
:yeahthat:

Obsidian is volcanic glass, not a metal, it can be sharpened but not smelted as far as I know.

I'm aware, but this is gemstone. Maybe the smelting system will come out flawed.

>rub bando
You pull a shadow black obsidian moon axe gracefully from your bandolier.
>inspect axe
You carefully inspect your black moon axe.
After a careful inspection you determine that a shadow black obsidian moon axe requires skill in edged weapons to use effectively. It appears to be a modified handaxe.
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of obsidian.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Heh - I agree - although this is an axe (5x w/ acid flares) - I also can't remember if Khal's merchant let me have obsidian from the get-go - or I had it changed before they clamped down on material changes.

They do this....
Lydrift just arrived.
Lydrift says, "Psinet."
Lydrift says, "'ah."
Kahnus blinks.
Lydrift says, "'sorry about that."
Kahnus chuckles.
Lydrift says, "Quit."
Kahnus just went east.
Lydrift says, "Sigh."
Lydrift just left.
