Alright, drafting season is upon us. Let's see your team from your main league, just one, no one needs to see all 41 of Sean2's teams.

I don't want even to see all 41 of my teams. It's that bad this year and I thought last year was bad.

*Our PC keeper draft is the 31st I'll post my pathetic team after that.

Drew

Alright here's my draft:

All bogs goto heaven
1. (4) Brian Westbrook
2. (21) Willis McGahee
3. (28) Jamal Lewis
4. (45) Kellen Winslow
5. (52) Calvin Johnson
6. (69) Roddy White
7. (76) Hines Ward
8. (93) Jay Cutler
9. (100) Matt Schaub
10. (117) Reggie Williams
11. (124) Steve Slaton
12. (141) Indianapolis
13. (148) Derrick Mason
14. (165) Lorenzo Booker
15. (172) JaMarcus Russell

Not my best draft but I'm reasonably happy with my money being on it. I play in a league with a flex spot and Lewis gets so many touches I just couldn't ignore him. Unfortunately I thought I would be able to grab a third tier WR in round 4 but Boldin was the last one and got picked one before me so I was left holding my willy. I figured that the tier 4 guys would be there later on so I ended up grabbing Winslow, not something I wanted to do so early. Either way I feel like I ended up getting good enough picks at receiver in the middle rounds that I'm not really handicapped.

Rather basic 12-team snaking draft. I picked third.

QBs: McNabb, Garrard, Kitna
RBs: Steven Jackson, McGahee, Ronnie Brown, Chester Taylor
WRs: Owens, Roy Williams, Burleson, Reggie Williams
TEs: Winslow, Scheffler
K: Scobee
DEF: Pats

xxxx (11:00:04 PM): my buddy wants to know if youre accepting his brees offer
BlackBelushi (12:46:16 AM): rofl a 4th round pick for a 7th round brees? Your buddy is on crack

*Oh to clear this up for those that don't know. It's a keeper league and Brees is costing me my 7th round pick for keeping him.
Also kept Brandon Jacobs as a 12 rounder.
Graham is a 15 rounder I think. Gotta check the rules.

I got pretty nicely screwed by autopicks when I went on vacation, but after TEN add+drops, I think I've done about as well as I can without a single player-to-player trade.

QB: Kurt Warner (FA, freaking CPU drafted me into Leinart)
HB1: Marshawn Lynch (my apparent first rounder)
HB2: Kevin Smith (see below)
WR1: Terrell Owens
WR2: Laveranues Coles
WR/HB: Ted Ginn Jr.
TE: Randy McMichael
K: Nick Folk
DEF/ST: CHI
BN1: Brandon Marshall
BN2: Steve Smith (Panthers)
BN3: Greg Olsen
BN4: JaMarcus Russell (freaking CPU drafted Alex Smith)
BN5: Ahman Green
BN6: Kevin Jones (UGH! This mofo probably took a decently high pick...)

So anyway, trying to trade Smith/Marshall/Coles for a solid HB or QB, but half of my league seems to be inactive, which is freaking lame...

10 team draft, picked third (LT and AP went first two, cause my roommate is a Minnesota homer and had to pick Peterson):

QBs: Carson Palmer, Jay Cutler
RBs: Brian Westbrook, Willie Parker, Justin Fargas, Chris Perry (trade Rudi, mothafuckas!)
WRs: Lee Evans (bit of a homer pick), Laverneus Coles, Javon Walker, Donte Stallworth, Isaac Bruce
TEs: Alge Crumpler (new and improved in TEN), L.J. Smith
K: Jeff Reed
DEF: Seattle

Kind of eh on the WRs, but otherwise I think decent. Edit: I have another draft later today, we'll see how that turns out.

Ouch, I feel better about my team already... Carson who has no targets to throw to... Westbrook who is going to be replaced by a rookie on third downs... Willie Parker fending off Mendenhall all season for carries, Lee Evans is, well, Lee Evans... and who knows what Javon Walker will give. I wish you luck, good sir, I wish you luck.

With Latrin possibly not doing the math for picks this year, it will be a sad football year for me. :(

Carson was good enough for me to place third in my league last year, throwing to the same targets.

Altho the sheer douchebaggery of changing one's last name to Ocho Cinco might force him not to throw CJ's way.

For whatever reason, I see Steve Slaton or Cadillac Williams being this year's Ryan Grant, ala guy who makes a giant splash after the trading deadline. Ahman Green breaks down often enough for Slaton to be soaring up the charts, and Cadillac should be coming back for the second half of the season (finally) at full strength.

Mistomeer and I were talking about setting up a PC league that doesn't suck and isn't autopick like the other gay PC league was.

It's not too late, obviously... but I wonder if we could get enough people.

We could do it for silver (preferable) or just for fun. I'll set it up and post it a little later. See what happens.

I was down for PB's league I just didn't around to signing up but I gave him the commitment.

I'm still down if we get anyone interested. I liked the wow gold idea too but can be a mix of either using current exchange rates or just paypal.

Thing is with silvers is they're worthless pretty much and I ain't got anymore. :P

So Rimalon has a league set up, but I guess we need to find out if the people who want to play want to do it for money.

If it is for money we need to find out what works best for everyone.

Yeah, I set up an ESPN league, but it seems they're ghey and can't do a simple join via League ID and password. Or I'm dumb and just can't figure it out.

So. PM me an e-mail address and I'll send an invite.

Yeah I figured I'd just post the entire draft for perspective purposes.

I really wanted Boldin in r3 but you snaked him up. I hate 8th pick.

I was hoping for Gore or Westbrook r1 which left me torn between LJ and Portis. I took Portis just because KC's Oline is all fucked up right now.

Same. But if it's a buy-in, I dunno, all my accts are frozen and I sure as hell ain't unfreezing them to buy in (nor do I exactly want a silvers prize).

I'll put up a million for you and if you win, I'll keep all the silver and send you a cash-equivalent prize.

...my team is looking sexy... much moreso than it did when I got autopicked into it, then had to trade and drop/add my way to a decent team...

QB - Kurt Warner
HB1 - Marshawn Lynch
HB2 - Kevin Smith
WR1 - Terrell Owens
WR2 - Brandon Marshall (OFF SUSPENSION, WOOTERS!)
WR/HB - Devery Henderson (just signed!)
TE - Randy McMichael (dude is going OFF this year!)
K - Nicholas Folk
DEF/ST - Chicago (HOLY SHIT!..here I thought I just picked them for Hester..)
Bench1 - Steve Smith (CAR)
Bench2 - Ted Ginn Jr.
Bench3 - Laveranues Coles
Bench4 - JaMarcus Russell
Bench5 - Greg Olsen
Bench6 - Kevin Jones

As long as I trade one/two of my surplus receivers for a solid/pro bowl HB, I'll be MONEY.

EDIT: Just sent out two trade proposals to fit the above idea... :p

Steve Smith
Kevin Smith

FOR

Marion Barber III
Marques Colston

(the guy REALLY needs help at WR, so I'm hoping that 6 week thought on Colston's injury will make him think hard on this one + Kevin Smith's nice debut helps matters)

Laveranues Coles
Kevin Jones

FOR

Chris Johnson

DUDE IS A BEAST, and if I move Coles and it backfires on me, oh well. Kevin Jones wont do anything until Forte gets his mandatory Adrian Peterson injury, and by then, Cadillac Williams may be back (for me to scoop him up!). Coles' lack of time with Favre, and overall second-place nature with Cotchery finally breaking out has me doubting his potential... and if I can really lock down the flex spot AND give myself a quality bye week replacement all in one shot, that sounds fine by me. The free roster spot would be filled by the next best kicker/defense so I don't have to bother with bye weeks, as I can REALLY afford to just sit on the team I have barring major injury to TO/Lynch. :D

Trade question: I just got offered his Anquan Boldin for my Jay Cutler. My other QBs are Matt Schaub and Jamarcus Russel (I can also pick up Pennington).

My starting WRs are Calvin megatron Johnson and either Hines Ward or Roddy White.

My league gives 6 pts for QB TDs and a bonus point for 300 and 400 yards thrown.

Sean of the Thread

Cutler is your stud imo. Schaub and Jamarcus ... meh. Ask for more out of the trade even if it's some depth at any position that you've got room at on the roster.

Drew
09-12-2008, 07:33 PM
I offered him for Andre Johnson, I'd take that trade and roll the dice on Schaub. We'll see how Schaub does against the Ravens this weekend, he had a bad outing against the Steelers but still completed like 80%, you don't get points for efficiency but if he can pass on the Ravens I'll feel good.

Drew
09-12-2008, 07:35 PM
I just noticed the guy has Steve Smith, I'm not terribly keen on him, but I wonder if I can get Boldin and Smith for Cutler and maybe Roddy or Hines.

Sean of the Thread

Do your receivers suck? Cutler is in a good position to have a nice fantasy year.

Drew

I mentioned them in my post, calvin johnson and hine ward or roddy white. So yeah, not that great, didn't get my first WR until round 5.

Oh yeah. Offer up Rod before Hiney, always.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Oh yeah. Offer up Rod before Hiney, always.

I can't tell if this is a joke, but if it isn't, this totally discredits everything Apathy has said to this point.

Roddy White is going to be a fantasy stud this year if Matt Ryan's arm makes any sort of impact for the Falcons. He's the only competant receiver on the roster that has the rookie's trust, and they really don't have much of a second option. This puts him in line for a fantasy year much like Lee Evans rips off.

Hines Ward is playing second fiddle to Santonio Holmes, just as he did last season, and Big Ben wont be lobbing the ball like a madman with a MUCH improved running game this season. He's gone LONG before Roddy White if I have any input on it.

Boldin for Cutler is a no-go. Boldin's contract nonsense created a decent bit of tension, and Fitzgerald's superstardom is likely to overshadow Boldin more and more as the years pass. The fact that Leonard Pope is establishing himself this season aswell makes me even more fearful of Boldin's overall numbers, though happy as a guy who is starting Warner. All of this is in play even before we begin talking about guys like Steve Breaston and Early Doucet, who are both in line for somewhere around 20-30 receptions this year.

Boldin/Smith for Cutler/Ward, eh... still not too great when you consider your other options at QB. Cutler is your only big arm with a premium WR option, until Javon Walker gets his head together (which I'm praying for). I would definately try to hold onto Cutler, as Marshall is just now coming back, and he could be insane this year if Selvin Young and the Broncos line does their job.

ISuck@Madden have offered you a trade in the RPGAuctions.com

DeSean Jackson and Kurt Warner.

u will get one of the best tight ends for a backup qb

I think Schaub will have a decent year. I'm not sold on Cutler yet. He looks great so far this year.. but look at the defenses he's faced: Oakland and San Diego. Both teams have been carved up (except when Oakland faced the worst team in the league, KC) so far this year and have not shown any chance of stopping a good offense. Denver has a relatively easy schedule this year.. they have to play the Bucs, Pats and Jags.. but other than that, there are no real tough defensive teams they play. Personally, I would hold onto Cutler.. not because he's some great QB.. but because of the scheme he plays in and the opponents he will be facing.

Drew
09-19-2008, 08:37 AM
Yeah at this point he's like 10 points up on any QB in my league, hard to trade him right now.

If he had a difficult schedule from here on out, it would be THE time to trade him right now.. but I looked.. he doesn't. He gets to play KC twice this year.. plus Oakland again. I don't think he's necessarily the best QB out there.. but he should put up some great fantasy numbers this year.

Assuming week 15 & 16 (or week 17) as playoffs/championship weeks

Cutler has Carolina & Buffalo (San Deigo)
Shaub has Tennesse & Oakland (Chicago)

Neither are terribly great matchups at the end of the season although if you can get to the championship and DeAngelo Hall is still pretending to be a cornerback Shaub could be a nice play.

And just for kicks Boldin would play Minn & NE.
