a scratched veil iron shield

Found this veil iron shield in an Ithzir box last night in OTF. I have no use for it.

The first thing that strikes you about the shield is the weight, which is about 10 pounds. In your best estimation, it's worth about 72,000 silvers. You can also tell that there is some type of metal in the structure of the veil iron shield.

You sense a faint aura of magic around the veil iron shield. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the shield is as a shield.

It has a bonus of +25 from a normal shield, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it serves some type of defensive purpose, different from that of normal armor.

The magical harmonics reveal that this is an item which serves as a shield when held in the left hand.

You carefully inspect your veil iron shield.

Your careful inspection of a scratched veil iron shield allows you to conclude that it is a medium shield that protects the bearer if carried in the left hand.

You determine that you could wear the shield, slinging it across your shoulders and back. The shield appears to serve some purpose.

It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of veil iron.

Great shield for a cman sbashing cleric or paladin. One simple alter could make it worth much more.

Wait? Is veil iron sancted or permablessed? I forget?

Oh, PS I think 70 bucks is a fair price for the shield. Figure 6-8m, that's not a bad price for veil iron.

Neither. Lots of it came out mistakenly permablessed though.

I was with him in OTF hunting when it was found. It was my bard who sang to it to provide the information. I told em to make an account and post it on PC to sell. He is a first time poster but an honest person as I have known em over 5 years.

I will vouch for him and return the buyers money myself should the item not get delivered as promised.

P.S. He asked what he should name the account and I told him TheHonestOne as a joke, but apparently he took it seriously.

Also, I saw no other special properties other than it being +25 and pure veil iron.

Well that sucks. As a sword and board option class shouldn’t they?

Anyway, nice find. 5x is very decent. If its further enchantable, even better. Like I said, a simple alter could make it worth much more. Even then a rare metal collector might pay.

I argued for pures to be allowed shield bash a while back. Was shot down of course, but it makes more sense to me for pures to have a shield attack than to have something as sophisticated as mfire. I'm sure it would be much less challenging to hit someone on the head with a shield than it would be to stick 3 arrows in a bow and trying to fire them all at once.

I found a veil iron shield last week too, didn't figure it would go for 6-8m though.

(Sad that seemingly all of the veil iron shields coming out are medium shields. Shouldn't they try for some towers or bucklers?)
