Does anyone out there have a link that describes the properties of the Immolator weapons? I am being asked some questions I cannot answer about my own blade. Krakiipedia has nothing on it and the weapon is immune to the cajoling of bards.

Before me, I am sure there was a mechanics study done on these blades. If not, I will just muddle along with what I do know...

There was a hot and cold fire version; I have the cold.

Also, what ever happened to the Immolator polearms? I used to own an immolating zinnor years ago. Havent heard of or seen them since.

Find Ondarian in the Landing. I think he uses a short sword immolator and can most likely fill you in on all the properties that are standard to immolators.

and you can /wave it at things for automatic hits/flares that can kill. With no roundtime. from any stance. you can wave it about 10 times before you have to recharge it. the blade actually flames (at least the text says it does. If it really flamed, it would burn up your monitor and be too expensive to own since it would burn your house down. Think about it.) and you turn it off/on by waving it at nothing. and shit.

The charges are limited... but I've seen him devastate Grimswarm camps with his pair.

I thought there were only a few of them left in the game with me owning one. Guess there are at least three then if he has a "pair". that WOULD be cool to have both the hot and cold fire blades. I dual weild mine too but with a real nice crit weighted falchion. I am jealous!

There are more immolators than just the mithril short swords... i know of at least the jeddart axe although snivels might have got it banned.

Yeah, there's at least a couple others too Sean. My friend currently has a jeddart axe version, he's had it for a while, not sure how many of them there are.

Those things were even awesomer before that idiot got them nerfed.

From what I remember you could wave it anything and it could die. No matter if you level 1 waving it at a capped player. Tsin would know. He tried to sell me one years ago. His selling point, over and over, was that you could do what I said. Kill anything with it.

I'm glad I didn't buy it because the immolators were nerfed a short time afterwards. If I remember correctly, someone used it on a GM's character....don't quote me on that though.

Yeah, people still use them to kill NPCs but that's why they were capped. Used to be you could just wave and wave and wave.

I have the immolator longsword, which was from the first batch released into the game.

They used to be a LOT more powerful than they currently are now, and the short swords are a bit less powerful than the originals. They received a massive nerf when Nanna hasted herself and used her immolator polearm to kill a GM run character. The GM got pissed and pretty much nerfed all immolators in the game within the hour.

In particular, the flares used to do a lot more damage. The waves used to do a lot more damage. The waves used to have a LOT more charges. It used to recharge a lot faster.

I believe I remember Ondreian RUBing his to get the flames going, at which point they consume charges to give every swing flares. The wave function seems to also drain charges, though I can't confirm that with any degree of certainty. Damn Ondreian and his cool stoof. :(

As far as I remember, the waves didn't go beyond 25 damage (though they could've, I may have just not witnessed any beyond that), and were somewhat lacking in terms of crits.

Anyway, just bug him in the Landing, and harass him about Blizzard and Blaze. I'm sure he'd be happy to give you a little demo should he have the time, and he also posts here regularly enough.

Knowing that they've been nerfed turned me off of them. Its like a supermodel who was smoking hot at 22, now she's 42. Still hot, but not quite as much as what you remember.

"Fixing coding" is Whatlian for "Game balance." Usually things don't work on the upswing, but I've played a Warrior so I'm biased.

The immolation short swords, and other weapons, are usually 2x in their "normal" forms.

They can be raised to activate the immolation effect, which turns them "on". While immolating, every hit will cause a flare, and they can be WAVE'd at a target for an instant critical of the corresponding element. Their enchantment also increases while they're immolating. They hold about 40 charges. Each flare takes 1 charge, each wave takes more charges (though I don't know the specific number). They recharge about 10/hour if I remember what Nanna/Cemb told me back in the day.

Menos has the acid immolation jeddart-axe from Foehn's '05.

I like Sorrow. Pointing it at things and watching them implode is fun. I like the cloud too, keeping things pinned down with tremors and watching the cloud go off.

How was Sorrow nerfed though? I can't imagine it being broken, haven't noticed any quirks yet.

Wave takes 3 seconds. Damage can go up to 75. There are different "levels" of flares demonstrated by the messaging that incurs before the flares.

Nanna got them nerfed during the Thurfel quest for being a dumb bitch and attacking a GM character while he was in the middle of his dialogue several times.

swing takes 1 charge, wave takes ~5, they hold around 50.

They recharge faster when flamming. During normal hunting I have no problems alternating between Blizzard/Blaze between two different hunts... but grimswarm make for a pain I can only make about 3 runs in a row when I'm grimswarming with Jacinto before I have to give them a half hour or so to recharge. The charges don't really limit swinging much, they're more their for the wave effect.

The nerfed immolators can't really kill someone 100 levels above you anymore, since they don't have enough charges, and don't really death crit anymore (they used to death crit like whoa).

But if you can followup up a wave->stun with a surefire killing move, they're pretty worth it. I used it with my Sorc, and could pretty much kill anyone by waving the immolator till they stunned, and then popping an open implode. A lot more efficient and unexpected than the normal implode/dispel/implode combo.

I killed a capped sorceroress at level 25... at that point, I'm not sure another 25 levels is going to matter.

I'll never move another one of my characters ever. It doesn't make sense, the value in it is awful. A capped ranger will only sell for $500-600? People spend years working on the character and in the end the value doesn't justify the sale. Might as well keep it.
