[Warcamp, Entrance]
The entrance to the warcamp consists of nothing more than a large gap in a wall built of broken trees and shrubs haphazardly stacked upon the other. In the turned up earth by the entryway, a bloody child-sized hand reaches up toward the sky, a forgotten or discarded prize of the Grimswarm. I like being unique!
Normal bows are out of the picture for me, unless I opt to get a haste slave, which I don't wanna do.
The ability to reach min RT with a Composite or Longbow for a Gnome is like non-existent.
Besides, the crossbow adds more challenge, and we all know how people no longer like challenges in this game.
The crossbow in itself isn't all that great, but to a small stature race it's amazing and I <3 it

I've had much more problems with sword and board. I'm curious to know how much trouble people have there. Someone suggested hamstring which really would help (which I don't have). I don't think you can be nearly as effective with OHE's in there.

Well, that sounds like a rogue problem. I'm an OHE ambushing ranger and I have no problems with camps. I have an excellent array of spells available to me, so its not really that surprising.

Yeah. No crowd control and being out of hiding for 6 seconds repeatedly in offensive kicks my ass. Sorry if I wasn't clear about where exactly I thought the problem was, I guess I would have explicitly said "sword and board rogue" if this wasn't posted in the "Rogue" category.
The best thing I've done is pull my MnE up to 410 for ewave. Thats the best crowd control method (for a rogue) to have unless you upgrade to 435.

How well can you e-wave against like-level? I know that it's determined in part by ranks in the MnE circle.

Like level falls almost always unless its a heavily steeped elemental being type.
The only thing that sometimes remains standing from my ewaves currently are Ithzir Seers (since they are older than my lvl 89 rogue) and constructs.
When I hunted Illoke there were a few older Jarls who withstood it as well as those elementals that roamed there. A followup ewave usually pulled them down.

Yes, that's my crossbow.
As for Sword and Board, you're likely going to find it harder as each ambush will bring you out of hiding. My advice, is to either get haste imbeds and rickroll Grimswarm with that, or be very careful in your attacks. And as Gan said, E-wave as well.
Widgets has 409 right now and just hit 28...Hopefully I'll pickup e-wave in a few trains then warcamps should be even easier
Even though I use ranged, I still get pulled out of hiding so I run the risk of dying, just not as much as an edged user would usually.

I imagine equipment that's incredibly above average for level might help some. At level 53, I'm using a less impressive weapon than yours at 28. I mean that only goes so far and there's something to be said about the advantage of a ranged build for this situation (single aimed attack to the eye from hiding vs. two aimed attacks from hiding that take longer and pull you from hiding).
This character is also a locksmith so I'm pressed for TPs. I'll just be enjoying a good run of playing a really bad build for this.

Just curious - would there be any viability to using Silent Strike in a warcamp as a sword & board rogue? Bear in mind, I don't play a rogue, and know little more of Silent Strike other than what's been documented. Would it cost too much to use repeatedly stamina wise, or not crit kill often enough? Or does the Swarm even allow you to stay in hiding that long? I've read alot of rogues bitching about the rediculous perception of these things.
However, if it did crit kill often enough, and cost about as much stamina wise for a full head of exp as a warrior berserking, AND allowed you to bypass the whole being out in the open for 6 secs then re-hiding, etc., might be nice.
Just a thought.

If you kill guards fast enough they never sound the alarm. So using Silent strike would be viable, but rather pointless. Once the swarm is active, without 3x hiding and spells I bet you would have a hell of a time remaining in hiding.

I was thinking more along the lines of allowing the swarm to pile up and picking them off using Silent Strike...and yea, being able to remain hidden in such a situation would make or break the concept.

I don't think they have ridiculous perception. I haven't done the orcs but the trolls and giants both haven't been much of a problem to hide from. But I guess I just got done hunting tigers/bears in pinefar for like 5 levels so anything sounds non-perceptive to me.
Silent strike is 25 stamina per attack and non-aimed. You might be able to kill one creature with a full tank of stamina. In every circumstance this cman is a waste of time. You can't even kill someone in town without getting caught.

2x hiding works well however. The only things that PULL me from hiding is either myself trying to snipe, or the guards...Other than that nothing really spots me at 2x without smastery
