WASHINGTON (AP) — Army scientist Bruce Ivins had custody of highly purified anthrax spores with "certain genetic mutations identical" to the poison that killed five and rattled the nation in 2001, according to documents unsealed Wednesday in the government's investigation.
Also, Ivins was unable to give investigators "an adequate explanation for his late laboratory work hours around the time of" the attacks, and he apparently sought to mislead investigators on the case, according to an affidavit filed by one government investigator.
More... (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5icCsDXbi3Yojuvo5W4j01VxWio0wD92CUV400)
The FBI determined that several people at a "secret government installation in Frederick, MD" (if you live in Frederick, MD, you might want to stock up on Cipro), had access to the anthrax. But the FBI determined that all of the others were innocent, leaving Ivins as the guilty one. There was no direct evidence of Ivins' guilt.
I smell a cover up.
The process of elimination is the same method Sherlock Holmes espoused to solve crimes in the Arthur Conan Doyle stories. "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable must be the truth," said the fictional Holmes. I expect more from the FBI.

From the article:
The events in Washington unfolded as a memorial service was held for Ivins at Fort Detrick, the secret government installation in Frederick, Md., where he worked. Reporters were barred.
How's it a secret if it's named?

I bet they move the lab somewhere else now. But maybe they should just close it.
Why do we even have an anthrax lab?

....
We work with anthrax to 1. Better understand how it works, 2. develop better vaccines. e work with MANY select agents. The anthrax vaccine is part of the GOOD that can come from doing so.
If there was a secret lab I would work in it and be less poor.

Then let me clarify, There is no secret lab at Fort Detrick. I think after being there as a soldier for 4 years, and a civilian for 2+ I would have noticed. I've been all over the post, both areas of it. I've literally jogged end to end along every possible trail, across fields, etc. It is an extremely small post by army standards. BSL3-4 labs need a LOT of crap to keep them running, to include specialized hepa filters and stuff that needs open air venting. If it is there it is STUPIDLY well hidden, think area 51.
I knew Bruce Ivins. I knew where he worked. It wasn't some secret lab, it was building fucking 1412 Hotside.
If you think otherwise, I would be completely stoked to see what proof you have to offer. No, the time BEFORE Nixon shut the offensive bioweapon program down doesn't count.

I was being humorous. Attempting. I don't really believe there's a secret lab. I know this hits close to home with you. Sorry.

When you look at the events surrounding the anthrax attacks and who the targets were .... it produces smoke from under the tinfoil.
The first round of mailings were to the media outlets on Sept 18 (postmark).
The second round went to Daschle (then Senate minority leader) and Leahy (chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee) postmarked on Oct 9.
Daschle's letter is opened on Oct 15, Leahy's is misdirected due to a misread zip code and a postal worker is infected on Nov 16.
Bush suggests that the anthrax attacks may be tied to Osama on Oct 16.
Patriot act introduced to the House on Oct 23, passed by the House on Oct 25, passed by the Senate on Oct 26, and signed by Bush on Oct 26.
There's no rotting in hell.
Did god tell you that .... or are you planning your last trip?
Look at the positions held by both senators and think about what may have happened to the bill had there not been an anthrax attack.

There's no doubt that the anthrax mailings helped Congress see the need for more flexible rules on domestic spying.

Hell lasts forever. The Bible tells us that the majority of the world's population will spend eternity there. Based on what I've read in this forum, I'd guess that the membership of this forum will be more than proportionally represented.

I don't have to worry about that shit anyways as someday when I die on my deathbed I will receive total consciousness... so I got that going for me... which is nice.

There's no rotting in hell.
Even a monkey gets one right, occasionally.
Since there is no actual "hell", hell does not exist. Since hell does not exist there can be no rotting there.
Bravo, Clyde. Bravo!
