Okay, some of you predicted this, and many of you know how fickle I am, but this isn't quite what you think:
First of all, Sorrow isn't necessarily for sale. I have, however, been getting some pretty amazing offers for it, and since I feel myself starting to crack in the face of them, I thought I'd mention that chance that it COULD switch hands again.
If anyone wants to blow me away with any offers, now would be the time. Again though, I'm not certain I'm going to sell it AT ALL. I'm posting this to let Tayvin and a few other people know that there's a chance I might sell it to some big offerers though. I just can't take it.
If you want to know about the blade, and for some reason don't know about it, look here: http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?t=34358
This is not going to be an auction, or a "fair sale". I plan on keeping offers to myself, and choosing which one I like based on many factors, to include:
1. Who you are. I'm not selling this item to some scrub.
2. Money Invovled
3. Silvers Involved
4. Trades Involved
Thanks.

Why would it be a big deal if Sorrow changes hands 1000 times more or not?

Because Sorrow isn't a human being.

Oh, and in case anyone wants a frame of reference:
The offer that I like the best right now includes cash, silvers, and an awesome item, and converting it all into silvers, is worth well over 125 million.
Take it right now! Sorrow has been dropping in price for years, that's a good offer.

Nah. Apparently not, because I didn't pay too much less than that! And I was fighting for it with at least two other people that I know of.
Besides, for me, its not about the best bid only. I want the person who gets to to be...worthy, actually play the damn game, and cause a lot of bloodletting with it. I'm picky.

Oh yeah, Drew, also keep in mind that silvers are on a downswing. Sorrow isn't worth less just cause silvers suck right now. If anything its worth MORE silvers now to make up for how much silvers suck.
Thats why $$$ are my #2, not silvers. And this offer I'm speaking over is over half dollars.

How do you figure?
Stray was asking 125m or 1400 for sorrow in 2005 and right now you're combining silvers/cash/items to come up with 125m which is worth about 1250 (obviously at 10per).
Tsin sold it at some point and later posted valuing it at 100-110m but take that one with a grain of salt.
Tayvin tried to sell it in 2006 for 125m and ended up lockering it and dropped it to 115m in late 2007 which is where he held it until he sold it to you asking 95m or $900.
So basically it's dropped about $500 in 3 years or if you want to look at it in silvers 30m ($300) in this market. If you can get over 125m for it I'd say that's that's great for you.

No you still don't get it.
Rare items like this are worth their maximum value despite the worth of Silvers. So if when Silvers were at 15 per mil this was orth 125 million, now that silvers are worth 8 per mil, it's worth more than that.
That's my philosophy, how I sell things, and when people want what I have to offer, it's what they have to pay. I take the utilitiarian value of the item into account, not this retarded silver market.

Really, the biggest thing that affects the selling price of items of this caliber is how patient you can be. I ended up selling Sorrow at a 10m loss from the price I purchased it for because I literally needed the money in a matter of days. I certainly could have gotten more if I'd been able to wait.

Well, like I said, I'm not even necessarily selling it. I have all the time in the world. When I see an offer I can't resist, to a person I like, I'll sell it. Until then, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

It's not really surprising that silvers are worth half what they were 5 or 6 years ago.
The player base is much smaller, and the silvers keep accumulating. Plus with the new hunting grounds, it's easy for a one or two character team to rake in 300k+ an hour.

You grin at Vandele.

Your vaalorn sword emits a low, curdling moan.

Foogly quietly says, "Hehehe that's kinda sick."

Foogly quietly asks, "Faster than Chazym?"

You say, "No."

Your vaalorn sword wails in disgust.

Because the sword is sentient and has a personality; it's supposed to bond with the person.

I might add that it hasn't even begun to bond to me, as far as I can tell, so maybe it won't be too upset.

You're definitely buying it for the name brand, the cachet, not solely for the mechanical advantage. Of course this is hilarious coming from a guy who has a 75 mil offer on the shadowdeath vambraces which are exactly the same.

I have no issues if you sell it. I mean, it's yours now. If I played more than just every now and then when I get the feeling, I'd have kept it. There is nothing very mechanically awesome about Sorrow, it's just really neat to have.
As for me selling it low, I know I did. I wasn't in a hurry, I just am at a point now where I really don't care to spend a lot of time hawking something. Anyone who went to the auction we had not long ago, should know it.
Selling stuff I've had for years and years is actually fun for me, as I don't need or desire it anymore, and it's cool to see someone who likes it, get it. I think when I sold it, someone who liked it, got it, and deal or no, that's kinda cool. I think what it sold for is irrelevant, but that's also between Mad and I, unless he wants to say what he paid (in coins, items or cash).
