I hope the rumors are true.
Feel free to discuss the Bucs playing the Superbowl in their own stadium if it is.

I like Favre, so I would feel kind of bad for him if this is the case. The Saints D are gonna fuck over the rest of the NFC South this year.

I'm not a huge Saints fan, but I've gotta agree with this. I don't see the Bucs having the same half-assed success, and the Saints have alot of potential. Except in the secondary, where you would think after seeing people get burned so badly they would have made an improvement.

They're betting on the pass rush helping the corners and safeties. I hope they're right. They've been working on a formation that lines up Will Smith and Bobby McCray ( from Jacksonville ) on the ends and Sedrick Ellis and Charles Grant at the tackles.

I hope for all the payroll you guys spent that it's true. McCray's going to be a good improvement for you, he's got some genuine moves.

Me too. I'm curious to see what the plan is for the next couple of years. They've been good about paying the guys who deserve it but the cap situation is going to get ugly soon. Maybe they're hoping for an uncapped season after 2010.

Favre = Over rated. Bucs need more than a washed up QB to get them to the Super Bowl.

Take all the Ain't talk to another thread. THIS thread is about the 2007 Division Champions.. not the 2007 Disappointment Champions.
Thanks.

It's no wonder PB likes the Bucs. Don't they have the oldest roster in the NFL? Favre should fit right in.

Really? Look where they got to last year with their glass jaw QB.
And for an over rated QB, Favre was what.. 3rd highest ranked QB last year and got a very young team into the playoffs? I'll take that type of over rated everyday.
After 2 bad years previously. What changed in GB last year that you think applies to the Bucs that will make him their savior?

Bad is in the eye of the beholder. Granted, 2006 wasn't one of Favre's best year, but he still passed for 3885 yards (5th), 343 Completions (5th), 631 Attempts (1st!), 243 YPG (7th), 18 TDs (13th).
2005 was pretty much the same deal.
But I never said Favre will be their 'savior', since they were the division champions. I DO believe that Favre may just be what the Bucs need to push them to the next level. He's a proven winner.

Bucs have made a lot of improvements as it is. We'll see what happens.

Fair enough. However when you start combining those stats his 56% completion percentage is (25) and his 6.3 yards per attempt is (26). In 2005 he was only moderately better (14th and 25th).
Obviously things turned around in 2007 and helped his team (although I think we all remember how the Packers got bounced from the playoffs). Health aside Favre wasn't statistically really any better than Garcia was last year in the air and is a significant step backwards on the ground. I just don't see how getting Favre makes the Bucs a better team outside of the hype. It makes a lot of sense from a business sense as the bucs need to sell tickets.

Don't forgot that he's the career leader in picks too.

Right and wrong.
Right in the sense that the bucs do not need to sell tickets... they've been sold out for many years and the waiting list for tickets is absurd.
Jersey sales... hell yes. Hype hell yes. Won't effect ticket sales tho...always sold out. I WILL buy a bucs Favre jersey however to add to my collection if it goes down.
Don't be fooled Garcia is a good QB. IF this goes down he's going to be one pissed off QB without a job. They can't afford both of them and rumors are 3rd round pick and Griese to the packers for Favre.
So far I'm thinking bad for my team overall if it happens. However like I said things are in the gel in TB now .. with everyone getting the hang of what is considered one of the and if not the toughest offensive schemes in the league. That matters.
And then on the other hand Favre went thru this whole retirement and then the super pain in the ass reinstatement and process with the packers to play again.
We all know he's a super star.. one of the best in my lifetime. He's still got gas left in the tank. If he comes back to NY or TB he's got one hell of a "thing" to prove to make it worth his while. But Garcia is going to be pissed to the point of homicide. If he does goto the bucs the next announcement will be Garcia's cry for a trade.
And if Brett goes down ... we'll have nobody left with Griese gone to the pack and garcia taking the first flight out.
If he goes to the jets maybe he can fuck the patriots up a little bit... at least that will make me happy. Owning a TB Buc's Brett jersey will make me happy too tho.
Oh well we'll see. Go Bucs at anyrate.
They must be smoking crack up in Green Bay, how do you trade Brett Favre? He is a proven commodity at what is widely regarded as one of the most difficult positions in sports. There aren't even enough quarterbacks in the world to put a good one on every team. Hence the Bucs plan to just sign every quarterback and relegate them to the bench. Keeps them off other teams.

Unless your team plays in Massachusetts or Indiana, Favre is still better than your QB.
I are angry at the Packers brass, and am will cheer whatever team Favre is on. EVEN IF ITS THE FUCKING VIKINGS.

I would honestly consider Drew Brees to be better at this point in his career than Brett Farve.
Ben Rofflesburger, as well. Oh and that guy on the Bengals with a middle-school D-FENCE.

Wafflesandburger sucks, he should be thanking Bettis every day for that ring. And sorry but Palmer sucks too. Both are in the top 50% of the league, though.
I considered adding "New Orleans" to the city list, but Favre was 2nd in the all-star voting last season, not Brees. Favre makes nobodies seem like amazing receivers and running backs, Brees has yet to prove that.

Gruden runs a complicated offense. I'll put money on Favre throwing more ints than tds. He would have been tight for the Vikings but he's a lateral move for TB. Watch Garcia go to Minnesota.
Palmer is as good as Brees.
Roethlesberger sucks wang.

What do you think the West Coast Offense is supposed to do when run correctly? You think Bobby Engram out in Seattle is going 95/1200/6 on any other team last season? I guess Matt Hasselbeck is the new Brett Favre.

You are forgetting that scheming a defense against Favre is not at all like scheming against Garcia and his linguine arm. Oh I hear Joey Galloway is still pretty fast too.

Favre will only be able to run 20% of TB's playbook, that'll be easy to gameplan against.

Seriously? How can you even BEGIN to put Cutler anywhere near the top 10? Tony Scheffler bailed him out time and time again, and the guy doesn't have anywhere near the arm strength of his peers. The fact that THIS Jay Cutler shows up first on Youtube search speaks volumes...

The Bills look forward to stomping the crap out of old man Favre on a twice yearly basis, until he inevitably dies or hides in fear due to the sheer awesomeness of our pass rush.
