Taking offers on a gem chisel... Cash or trades, possibly coins.

a rust-stained iron chisel
- The iron chisel has a sharpened, flat edge on one end and a blunt knob on the other. The chisel looks worn from use but still gleams with sharpness. The craftsmanship on the chisel is solid and the runes engraved along its sides are intricately entangled.
- weighs about 2 lbs or less if you care...

No round time is incurred during use.

Gives a rank one wound on every use, excepting when you miss, which causes a rank two wound. Missing is a highly unlikely outcome. The wounds do not stack.

Recommended use is to purify any gem first, then chisel, but you may purify after chiseling if you want.

gem loss - shatter it with a strong strike in the wrong spot.
9% increase - hit it off-centered hitting your hand too.
19% increase - hit it pretty good while retaining your grip.
29% increase - hit it nearly in the center.
39% increase - chip it along an angle you like.
49% increase - hit it precisely. You are pleased with the results.

wasn't aware of this. assuming the wound affects ability to chisel though?

pfft. Empath is more win here. XP.

No experience is gained for healing the wounds received from the chisel.

I haven't tested whether the chisel is affected by wounds.

The wounds sort of stack. On certain failures (hitting your hand too, and ruefully shaking your hand), the wound will increase to a Rank 2. If you have Sigil of Determination, you can keep going, however, if you get another failure, the wound will stack to a Rank 3, which Sigil of Determination will obviously not help you through.

Originally empaths used to get experience for healing from it. Gem chisels were affected by the 'no experience for self-inflicted injury' thing that went into place that came alongside CHALLENGE and a few other tweaks (like the sword licking).

Better of this way IMO.

Gem Chisel EXP removal happened early last year as I recall. A certain bard loved to take my ideas and run with it. Unfortunately this was something he was caught on, and it was changed.

Sigil of Mending + Herbs > R3 hands. Add Haste for even more win.

With the small amount of testing I have done so far, using an empath with crappy stats, and healing wounds down to a level one scar.. All gems were purified first, capped or orbed.

1 bunch of gems got a 33-34% increase
25 gems to start, shattered 1

1 got a 17-18% increase
208 gems to start
shattered 17

and 1 got a 14-15% increase
90 gems to start
shattered 7

Shattering the high end gems really puts a dent in the profits.(All three sample sets had a large variety of gems, from 50 silver ones to 10k+)

Might try it some more healing all the way down, with no scar.
Might also try song of luck - dunno if it helps yet, but one of the previous owners claimed they used it.

I imagine though, as long as you are able to chisel, there isn't much to do to improve the odds of success. Seems pretty random.

Also, it is so random you might try like playing the odds, if you go through 10 gems without a shatter, start picking out cheaper gems to chisel cause you know ones coming... or something.

You ask Tanzania to appraise the contents of a heavy backpack.
The jeweler Tanzania takes the heavy backpack and inspects the contents carefully before saying, "There is one item that I do not deal with at all. I did find 215 gems that I'll give you 1068722 silver for, if you want to sell."

Only like 6 diamond/emeralds, the rest are pearls, sapphires and lower. Though this guy has like 33% trade markup.

2 mil a ticket with 100 tickets for an item that is top end worth 50 million?

If you're going to charge 2 mil you should only do 50 tickets, you're still making 100% profit.

1.) It sold for 150m the last two times.
2.) There is no guarantee all tickets will sell.
3.) Brielus just sold a weapon worth 40m or less, for 75m worth of tickets, where is your shit fest in his thread?
4.) You have no fucking clue what I paid for it, much less how much profit I will make off it.

He's bad at this whole merchanting thing, if you can't tell.

And you base this on what? The fact that I am probably worth 10x more than you? All because of merchanting.

You hate me, we get it, now try and grow up.

You're bragging about being worth 10x more than me in a video game? You and Tsin are related aren't you?

I'm not getting in some pissing contest with an inbred, but I can assure you AD that I spend my money on more important things than to claim I'm worth 10x "more than [someone]" in an internet game.

Um, you were ragging on my game abilities. I responded with how my game abilities were superior. And I have zero dollars invested in Gemstone. "Sucker."

Anything I have in this game is above and beyond what I put in.

Hence, I am a successful merchant whether you like me or not.

And I know you spend a shit load on this game, so don't try that denial thing. Everything you play was purchased. Unless you have some newb being power leveled by your bought characters.

Dude.. you're right there is no gaurentee that all tickets will sell, I knew that when I put the blade up. (although I price it up around 60m but thats just me) And who cares what ya payed for it either do the raffle or dont. Now I say boo on canceling a raffle if all the tickets dont sell thats just lame, sounds kinda like putting an item up for auction and when ya dont have a bid around what you think it should be you just cancel the auction.. it just doesnt work that way. Anywho thats just my two cents.

First off whatever an individual can get out of an item is entirely up to that individual. If AD finds a buyer for 300 mil more power to him (If you do though tell me cause Ill have you sell some stuff for me for commission ;-).

Next, there is nothing wrong in my opinion to spend cash on a game you enjoy. Hell I can produce 5 mil daily without breaking a sweat if I put 9-10 hours into it, OR I can just work one hour extra at my job and buy that same amount. So as I see it, it is more efficient for ME to do the latter. Some people like to condemn or ridicule those that participate in this practice, but I believe it is completely relative to an individuals situation and perspective.

I see it kinda like hiring a Mexican to landscape your yard for you, and working for one hour to pay for it.
