Custom Swear (sale? ideas?)

ANYWAY... A few days ago, there was that whole storyline advancement with the shards and such, and the niftiness that followed, and I got a custom swear.

Naionna said it could be traded or sold, so if anybody wants to make an offer in that direction, feel free...



At any rate, I can't think of anything and was seeing if you all wanted to help me out.

Auryana doesn't usualy get very upset, so I was thinking about something with her smiling, more of a joke than anything...

I was reading up on swearing and aparently there's 5 kinds, and I was thinking about this type:


Dysphemistic swearing - Exact opposite of euphemism. Forces listener to think about negative matter. Using the wrong euphemism has a dysphemistic effect.

Any other ideas?

There was a small RP event, only for 11 of us. 3 casters tried to answer riddles about one of their spells and 3 non-casters (turned out to be 3 rogues, oh yeah) went into a battle arena and faught two critters 5 levels over their heads (I got a Sheru Monk and a Myklian - pwnt!) There was a capped empath, and 3 wizards there so I was spelled up through the roof, even WOF. All 3 traunced them without a scratch.

At the end, the 3 casters that answered the riddles got gold tokens for a spell prep (would have rathered to have got that, I can think of a million ideas to change a rogue's spell prep so it looks less like a spell and more like locksmithing help), and the three rogues got silver tokens for a swear.

Since it's a token, you can trade or sell it as you wish.

It was offered to be sold/trade as a nice gesture by the GM running the event. It is a tad bit easier tracking us down in Plat. However, we aren't generally allowed to trade cert., tokens, or an other redeeming item for things on a normal basis. This was a bit special.

Custom spell preps I get. Even a flat out custom verb, or scripted items... But I can't think of anything...

Auryana doesn't swear much, she's pretty passive when it comes to PCs. She was intended to be RPed as a bubbly 16 year old cheerleader-type; vain, selfish, completely self assured, bouncy and happy. I threw up in my mouth a few times when I actually tried to do that, so she's just sort of friendly, slightly selfish, single-minded (right now, about LM and picking in general), smiles and bounces a lot and has the best cloak EVAR!

Maybe I could do a roll eyes thing... She does roll her eyes a lot.

Yea, a SWEAR MINE doesn't need to really be a swear, in the sense of a word being said. Dhask takes a step forward and raises a balled fist in the air. Like... A taunt. I'm all, "You want a fuggin' piece of me." So you could sort of use it like a custom sig, just needs to be an angry sig.

Also, another cool thing of custom swears are they can be targetted and just said, unlike sig verbs that are either or.

Option 3:
3rd party to target: Auryana stares blankly at Knack for a moment before tilting her head down and covering her face with her hand in obvious disgust, muttering bitterly about Knack's ancestry.
2nd party to target: Auryana stares blankly at you for a moment before tilting her head down and covering her face with her hand in obvious disgust, muttering bitterly about your ancestry.
3rd party untargeted: Auryana stares blankly for a moment before tilting her head down and covering her face with her hand in obvious disgust.


I don't think any are very good, but I'm not very creative.

Unless they've changed the rules since I got mine, swear mines have to fit with the following format:

Untargeted: <Character> <verb> <string of words>.
Targeted: <Character> swears at <target>, <verb>ing <identical string to untargeted version>.

So working with your examples, you'd get something like:

Option 1:
Targeted: Auryana swears at Knack, exploding into a short but noticeably sarcastic tirade undermined by her mischievous grin.
Untargeted: Auryana explodes into a short but noticeably sarcastic tirade undermined by her mischievous grin.

Option 2:
Targeted: Auryana swears at Knack, muttering under her breath as she rolls her eyes and scowls.
Untargeted: Auryana mutters under her breath as she rolls her eyes and scowls.

Option 3:
Targeted: Auryana swears at Knack, pressing her face into her palms as she mutters bitterly.
Untargeted: Auryana presses her face into her palms as she mutters bitterly.

When I used to do custom verbs like that. I told the person to really look at their character and think about something you either already do or something they feel would really flesh out their character. So a custom verb really depends on how you roleplay. If you go back to the gm and maybe tell her a bit about your character she or he can help you a bit too.

I'm very confused... I see verbs everywhere with pronouns. Could she be confused that you just can't have two different people's pronouns? EG: Auryana swears at Knack, she says something about his mother... how there's a pronoun for Aury and one for Knack... That I can't say I've noticed before.

You can't. It has to be pretty much the same read as the third person. It doesn't work the same way as a script or sig verb. So you need to play around with the wording...a lot!

Be creative!... But you have to stick to THIS format, you can't use any pronouns...

A custom spell prep =/= a custom swear... Id'a rather got a script on an item or something... This is just such a pain in the ass - been almost 3 weeks and I'm still no closer to figuring it out...

I don't care if it doesn't look right for me, as long as everybody else sees it right. But I'm sure they won't do that.

Yes, no pronouns. All targeting a swear mine at someone/something does is inserts the "<Character> swears at <target>" bit at the beginning; the rest of the messaging has to be exactly the same for targeted and untargeted, so it wouldn't make sense for it to refer to a person's mother. If you want a swear that insults someone's ancestry, maybe something like this?

<Character> recites a verbose and extremely improbable family tree involving a hedgehog, a donkey, and a moose.
<Character> swears at <target>, reciting a verbose and extremely improbable family tree involving a hedgehog, a donkey, and a moose.
