View Full Version : Hunt with an open void = not smart.

Anyway...here's a little background. Sergey and I took Celeina hunting on the glacier yesterday and we all get hit by an open void left by Drabbo. We went all over looking for him, but he ran when I called him out. So I told him not to hunt with open voids in a crowded hunting area again. Earlier today Celeina confronted him, and he was being a snerty asshole from what she sent me, basically saying he could do what he wanted. So this happened about 15-20 minutes ago, started because he was caught still open voiding.

You [subdued]: "Drabbo, I thought I told you not to hunt with open voids. Don't let me catch up to you."
Chandani [subdued]: "Ooooh fight!"
Celeina [subdued]: "I nearly died thanks to that twit."
Drabbo [subdued]: "I love how I get accused of everything, I've been sitting at wayside for the last 15 minutes"
[note: he said this at 2:28. Celeina IM'd me at 2:21 saying Drabbo's back...I hope he doesn't open void again, so on a hunch I went over to the Glacier. She gets hit at 2:27 by an open void, and the only other person there is a warrior so he's FOS]
Drabbo [subdued]: "maybe you should think before you speak"
Celeina [subdued]: "Now that's a crock, considering I saw you here not too recently. One of your left-over voids got me."
Drabbo [subdued]: "yeah, you saw, and I've been at wayside since then, which was exactly 13 minutes ago"
You [subdued]: "And considering I was hidden during your little 'exchange' earlier, I'd stop the lying. You're just making yourself look stupid."
Drabbo [subdued]: "I'm just going to walk through the glacier and cast an open void everywhere I can so you little whiners will bite your tongues once and
for all"
Celeina [subdued]: "Can you just do everyone a favor and be careful with your voids?"
Celeina [subdued]: "or are you too bull-headed and obstinant to stop with this fiasco?"

5 minutes later after he's raised...

Drabbo [subdued]: "Edaarin, you will die"

subdue drabbo

In conclusion: people who hunt using unfocused 720 are dumb.

EDIT: Here's a clip of the log I dug up.

A large shadow looms out of the blizzard to the north, implying that a hill stands in that direction. It seems to funnel the wind, directing the icy blasts directly at you. You also see a black void, a handaxe, some cuirbouilli leather and a reinforced shield.
Also here: Sergey, Celeina
Obvious paths: east, west

[Glatoph, Glacier]
The path to the east is blocked by a huge spire of ice. Instead of lessening the wind here, it seems to pour it down onto you with arctic ferocity, howling and swirling.
Also here: Sergey, Celeina
Obvious paths: northeast, west
>Air begins to rush in violently.
Air slams into Sergey!
Strike to Sergey's shoulder.
His blue leather softens the blow.
+12 Hits.

Air slams into you!
Strike to your leg knocks you down!
+8 Hits.
Stunned for 2 rounds!

Air slams into Celeina!
Celeina is staggered by a strike to her side.
+10 Hits.
She is stunned!

Only other person was Miersey, and he's a warrior.

Open voids can be buggy at times, especially if you leave the area. They can stay open much longer than their normal duration, or even re-activate once you enter the area again.

I am not in any way defending Drabbo or whichever sorcerer who left the open void, just stating a fact.

Just because you CAN hunt with open voids doesn't mean you SHOULD hunt with open voids.

You don't see too many wizards hunting with firestorm or meteor swarm, do you?

And Edaarin.. you dope.. do you know nothing about finess? You take off both hands and THEN you slit their throat. God, I thought I trained you better than that.

With power comes responsibility... If you're going to open implode then you better make sure you dispell, and damn sure dont cast open implode if you dont have the mana to dispell afterwards.

My sorcerer has been known to open implode if the room is packed enough; however, he always, ALWAYS, dispells after the first round of the void. If it cant be killed with the first impact then its most likely not going to be killed by subsequent rounds of the void.

Additionally, the use of implode has serious consequences now that so many critters have the skill to strip players of their weapons and shields.

All implodes used to be flagged for GM attention due to the abuse implode used to get... (dont know if they still are...)if he decides to litter the glacier with voids then you can draw more unwanted attention on him, or at least call their attention to that fact when he reports you for killing him over, and over, and over, and over...

Nice utilization of guild skills there; however I'd have done more carving myself. Its fun to see how many limbs can be removed while sustaining life in the idiotic waggler before he finally dies from the shock of amputation. And if you run out of limbs??? pry out a few eyes, that always capps off a great round of waggler carving. Then I'd have shot a few crossbow bolts in his stinkin corpse just for the hell of it.

Drabbo strikes back!

I saw him logon, two seconds later I'm located. Not surprising. Anyway, this speaks for itself. I gave him fair warning to leave, but instead he uses a call wind item. <g>

Lord Drabbo just came trudging in.

that shit is funny.. some idiots never learn.

Maybe the next time you kill him, he will have learned you can't use an imbedible with a spell prepared.

That, and that call wind, when cast at someone probably twice your level, is not exactly useful.

Hey now.. it's idiots like Drabbo that make my time in the game fun!

With my sorcerer I used open voids frequently and often I left them open a round or two if the creatures survived. I used my arts to their fullest extent, and if others were injuried I was fully prepared to accept the consequences of my actions.

I am not saying I would open a void in a crowded hunting area and sit back and laugh if any were caught in its resulting effects. I simply knew that if anyone else was hit by my void they had every right to seek my life. I would most usually shout warning before casting, though if my life was in peril often times I would not.

That and take your time next time you decide to torture a sorcerer. We dont mind at all.

Heck if i had the mana and deeds i would hunt with meator swarm with my wizard. but i wouldnt blame anyone for coming to kill me from its affects. but then again i wouldnt hunt an area that was busy at all. and i hunt only when the game is usually dead anyway....

Drabbo pulled this in Illistim not long ago. He cast an open void then left the room for someone else to walk into. If the void hadnt given her a level three head wound, Drabbo would have died where he stood.

Though this little one bears a grudge :saint:
