Dodge ranks and whatever secret rolls the gods deem fit.

Encumberance, luck, skills, a whole shit load of things factor into the hidden rolls so anything we say is speculation and educated guessess based on research.

GM's make the equations and hidden rolls, they are in no way, shape, or form gods. Sorry that's just a pet peeve of mine.

I believe level variance and stance have the biggest impact on a successful attack evade.

You must not be that tasty.

I also believe a level check weighs heavily into the equation as well. The more trains you are above a creature, the more likely you are to dodge their attack regardless of training.

There may be exceptions to this statement, but I would postulate (usage?) my thoughts on the matter are largely accurate.

Your a wizard with your own spells on right?

Mass blurs adds like 10 ranks of dodge.

And shouldn't this thread be in mechanics folder and not in Events and Invasions?

Ooh really???? I didn't know that! And to think I don't make a habit of getting mass spells cause I like the idea of going in with as few spells as possible (usually just 401 which my rogue can cast herself and COL signs..poison resist too if I'm hitting up the village) Hmm..I'll have to take the blurs I think ;)

The post evaded the folder only to be guild tackled into this one.

are you dodging them all or parrying them with your weapon? I know that training in magic helps you parry with the runestaff. I could see you being a few trains over the level of the creature with a runestaff and blurs and not letting the pooka get a swing off 70% of the time, but to dodge alone seems a little steep.

Age and stance are the two primary factors.

Mobility also adds 20+ ranks of dodge.

I think it's retarded how things can dodge attacks and parry and stuff even while its stunned, wtf.

Its been said so many times, stunned doesn't mean completely disabled. It means your dazed. Even when dazed, after hundreds of hours of practicing parrying and doding things, you can still respond instinctually.

And players can do the same damn thing anyway.

I'm stunned. I can't glance to see what's in my hands, I can look in the room, I can't nod or blink or even act puzzled. However I can evade a sword coming at me or perhaps block it with my shield.

Doesn't make sense.

Just cause both sides can do it, doesn't make it right either.

I think its retarded that when a creature tries to bite me my spells add to my defense, but when a creature decides to sweep me, my spells dont help at all.

Lots of retarded features in this game, im afraid.

There is many retarded things in the game. Most of them are all in the name of game balance: AKA your enjoyment.

Actually I would jump for joy.. on, over and about the corpse of the square of course, if my spells actually worked against their mundane attacks.

Your profession was inherently broke, and they fixed it at the cost of common sense. Be thankful, square.

Well, there are a lot of bugs in spells too. Ever notived in open void it says "A number of items from 2 to 2000 feet away were picked up". 2000 feet is a pretty big room.

Another screwed up system is the AvD part of combat, which is inherantly backwards, yet still the way it is to make heavy armor more appealing.

If you want logic, don't play GS.

Well usually I dont see the area I am in as a singular room in a hunting ground from an IC point, but I will give you this one.

I always thought of it like the Ratchet and Clank commercial where they tried out the magnet beam to catch a can thrown in the air. About 8 seconds after they turn it on A big-ass metal trailer comes crashing in out of nowhere.
