Anyone know where to buy the opalescent glass jars that hold 20 items of the same sort?

Alchemist.
There's a tent on FWI that's selling jars/bottles that hold 50.

Oh snap! Guess that explains why I can't find it on FWI. Any idea where in Ta'vaalor?

Psinet Atlas room number 6199.
Also, the ones at the alchemist can't be picked up via color (e.g. get blue bottle), and they do not reduce your item count. The 50-count ones do.

In other words, the tent is just outside the Ta'Vaalor magic shop. I believe the normal 20-item jars do reduce your item count, but still, they're not as good as the 50-item. The 20-item ones can also be customized by color, and I think those can be picked up by color, but I'm not sure.

Edited to add: They don't reduce weight, just item count.

They don't and they can't. I tested them and bitched on Psinet about how they didn't, and then I was informed about the 50-count ones.

The 20 count jars do reduce item count. That's why the alchemists like them so much...we're not always running around at close to 500 items.
I'll doublecheck right now, since I have to stuff an ayanad crystal into a jar anyway:
>inven qua
>
408 items found.
>get third jar in bag
You remove an opalescent golden glass jar containing ayanad crystals from in your silk components bag.
>get aya cry in bag
You remove an ayanad crystal from in your silk components bag.
>put cry in jar
You add an ayanad crystal to the contents of the golden glass jar.

Yep, reduces item count.

:help:
when you order, CUSTOMIZE the jars. they can be picked up via color.
I prefer the large ones for things I'm going to store for a long time, and the smaller ones for things I use on a regular basis. When each jar holds 50 items, space runs out in containers very fast.

Bernt's posted on the officials that it's now in Ta'Illistim. Dunno exactly where.

so are the 50 item jars not for sale anymore?
Renian

No, they are. They are just not for sale in Ta'Vaalor.
For everyone's benefit, I will now search for it in Ta'Illistim and give you guys the room.

Wow, that was easy.
On Tsoran's: The PRO meeting hall room.
Atlas: Room 3483
Room description for Lich Goto:
[Ta'Illistim, Mzaarine Wey]
The wey opens onto a larger cobblestoned var, the congestion easing somewhat as the throngs move off towards their separate destinations. Several city guardsmen, casually watching the passersby and talking quietly amongst themselves, stand at the corner of the wey. You also see a large white tent, an ironwork signpost and a large wrought-iron gate.

I guess they fixed it. Win!

I R NOT STUPID. I customized me a blue one.
Maybe it's just the Ta'Illistim ones.
>order
A wizened alchemist exclaims, "Your order for a tapered blue glass bottle is ready! Here you go!" and hands you a tapered blue glass bottle.
>put bott in my cloak
You put a tapered blue glass bottle in your spidersilk cloak.
>get blue bott
Get what?
>get tapered blue bott

(253 items displayed.)
>put emer in bott
You put your an uncut emerald into your empty bottle.
>get emer from my jack
You remove an uncut emerald from in your swarthy leather jacket.
>put emer in bott
You add an uncut emerald to the contents of the glass bottle.
>inventory full
(252 items displayed.)
Hm, only reduced by one instead of two. Then again, I did hear that was the case...it's really two items. But it's a step up from when I ordered the damn thing the first time and it wasn't reducing the item count.
But I still can't GET BLUE BOTTLE.
EDIT: Oh wait, holding it in your hand doesn't count with inventory full's item count. I just checked again, it really does make it into just one item. Very good.

I R NOT STUPID.
With the amount of time you spent claiming the jars don't affect item numbers, I would disagree.

It was definitely not working at first with the Ta'Illistim bottles.
Though I will yield, either that or I just did not know that INVENTORY FULL didn't count the items in your hands. In that case, that doesn't make me stupid. That makes me uninformed.
Bernt, I believe, has posted about them being his.

Now, will these hold 50 of ANY same item? Like...50 bundles of the same kind of fletching? Or 50 of the same kind of wand?

Renian

Yeah, there was another thread about these I was posting in that has the location. Right now, it should be in Zul. It stays in a town for a week.

Will the tent go back to towns they already visited or will they stop selling them once it's hit every town?

Is zul the last stop?
Kitsun
08-13-2008, 11:17 PM
Nope, it still has to go to like IMT, Teras and a few other places. The Officials has a post by a GM about where it still has to go.

How heavy are the jars themselves?
Allereli
08-14-2008, 06:14 PM
less than 2 lbs when you weigh them
Kitsun
08-14-2008, 06:16 PM
I think they're 1lb each or so. When I stuffed mine full, it weight 6lbs. Gems are like 1/10th of a pound. Sounds about right.

one of the 50 item ones stuffed with foraged stuff is 25 lbs :( foraged stuff weighs way too much.

Something I learned at Simucon:
Nothing in GS weighs one pound. The possibilities for weight are 1/10 of a pound, 1/2 of a pound, 2 pounds, 3 pounds, ... etc.
And it sounds like these weigh 1/2 a pound which isn't too bad. I was afraid they might weigh 2 pounds.

Make herbs lighter! Do it now! Divide by 10!
Last time I carried a sack full of dried herbs in real life, it didn't encumber me. Of course, I also wasn't wearing brig and carrying treasure chests, but still...

Per Bernt on 8/8:
The tent will make its way to every major town. From ZL, it will go to IMT, WL, Solhaven, RR and finally Teras.
