View Full Version : Comparison of 2 morning stars

I've got a +38 very heavily crit weighted morning star.
I've recently picked up a 0X masterfully crit weighted morning star.

I normally feint and then ambush the head. Good AS, morning star DF and crit weighting usually leaves the creature dead.

I'm looking to use premium points to enchant the 0X morning star. At what enchant would people consider the new MCW morning star equal to or better than the +38 VHCW star?

Thanks

Uhh... I hope you know how many PPs that will take to enchant, it would be hard to make that worth it. You could take the +38 VHC up higher and make it insane for the same PP it would take to make the 0x MCW 1x.

Your call though.

Massive isn't on the scale, do you mean masterful?

Totally not worth enchanting it up if you already have 8x VHC

This is a long term project, it'd give me something to do in the coming years. I could bring the +38 VHCW star to +48 but that's only another +10 AS. I've got lots of AS as a capped giantman warrior. I like the idea of more crit weighting and I've got enough premium points to bring the new star to +5.

So, I'm trying to figure out at what point it'd be the better weapon. The jump from VHCW to MCW looks to be a fairly significant one

+5 MCW > +38 VHCW ?
+10 MCW > +38 VHCW ?
+15 MCW > +38 VHCW ?
+20 MCW > +38 VHCW ?
+25 MCW > +38 VHCW ?

There's no single point, and the difference between masterful and very heavy really isn't that much. I'd say a rule a thumb it would be better than the VHCW at around +28.

I think very heavy is 12-14 points, and masterful is 20-24 points.

So you could possibly be doubling your weighting. But how much do you need? You say you already kill things fine.

I am approximating a cost of something like 2500 base for enchanting the new one, and thats without a possible extra surcharge they have the right to tack on. Figure out if they are going to do that.

But thats 2500 min, for one enchant, then 3k, then 3.5k, then 4k etc.. each enchant goes up 500 points.

Approximate cost of 3-4k per premie point depending on how cheap you can find them. Your looking at up to 40m just to get it to 4x.

I'd say enchanting the 0x masterful to 1x, is more than worth it, as anything 0x is almost worthless when you would be scared to use it on things like golems or gargoyles etc... Thats cheap and gives it more than 'just' and extra enchant.

After that, the real difference in use between your two weapons is up to you.

If you are getting such a high AS that you can hit anything with a 0x weapon, then enchant doesn't seem to matter much at all.

Personally I would still go with the +38 vhc. Plenty of weighting, lot of enchant. And you don't have to work it over. I could NEVER stand knowing I could have a higher AS real easy, and purposely taking it lower for some reason. If you want weighting so bad, go buy a claidh. Thats 40 points instead of 20.

I'm pretty sure masterful immediately follows very heavy, putting it at 15-19. Incredible is 20+

Oh, and to weigh in on the matter, use the +38 one and sink the money or PPs in something else.

You've already got an amazing weapon(s). Get a fantastic shield/armor/ehancives.

Isn't it possible that any premium point request on something with that much crit weighting get turned down? Might want to check and see how far they will let you go with it before you spend any points.

I think he has one of those old massive stars w/ MCW. Out of morbid curiousity, what is the charge to 0-1x it?
