I just sold a +22 one, with 1x defender for 200k... after letting the bidding run out a while. Just FYI.

How do you figure it's equivalent to a 9x runestaff?

Not sure the formula, but from what I understand, a runestaff enchant is not as potent as a "normal" enchant. For example, a 4x shield would not give the same DS bonus as a 4x runestaff. The defender aspect probably acts as a "normal" enchant.

Yea fun with numbers, since the defender bonus goes straight to DS and isnt stance dependent. I however don't know the formula off hand so I can't confirm if the relation to a 9x staff is true but I do know the defender bonuses are nice to have.
For each enchant of the runestaff you get an extra 1 DS in offensive stance. So going from a 0x-4x runestaff gives you 4 extra offensive DS. Since this gives you an extra 5DS in offensive stance it's like getting an extra 5 enchants. Of course your defensive DS won't be nearly as high as having a 9x runestaff, but there you go.

I see. But the thing is, offensive stance comparisons are next to worthless because any pure that's staying in offensive obviously doesn't have DS issues, and the other pures that cast from guarded would see a much better benefit from a 9x runestaff.
Yeah I'm not trying to sell it, just explaining.

Except for the fact that most casters are most vulnerable when in between stance dancing after making a cast . While it is on a second or less(unless you get caught in weather), that is the only time you're truly susceptible to an AS/DS check. And in defense pretty much any pure is unhittable AS/DS wise (unless they get setup with a disarm or something first), it wouldn't matter if you had a 1x runestaff or a
10x one. So, the defender runestaff actually augments the one moment where you are susceptible, and that litlte bit of extra DS may matter considering the unlikeliness of you being hit anyway (pushing just over the threshold of a possible hit, with say... an ithizir flaring weapon)
Or when your DS is pushed down from an ambush. Either way it probably only results in 4 deaths out of five-hundred hunts (I made that number up). But if you want to reduce it, that +5 to looking pretty good if you ask me.
The difference is only +20 in Defensive stance anyway between a 9x and a 4x/1x defender/

Yeah, 4 enchants worth of extra DS is nothing.

In defensive stance for a caster? it is nothing...
