Do some RPAs work different than others?

I got a 4x RPA from Chelise yesterday (not sure what I did to deserve it, but thanks a bunch! It might have been me demanding somebody get her a drink...). It's lasted a very long time and I'm down to 3x now... Which is why I wasn't at Dragonbones yesterday... wish I had been there to see Jaired die (yet again)... I also missed out on Skibble's gifts of uberness . But I expect I have quite a bit of XP to grab before it wears out.

However, I also have a good deal of training to untrain. So I would like to stay logged in to migrate it all, there's about 14 days in all.

Do GM-Given RPAs typically run out after a certain time? number of xp? or certain number of XP Pulses like Luminis' gift?

If it's XP Pulses I can stay logged in all day and night while Belled and just migrate away, but I'm afraid it might be based on in-game time, so I'd be wasting it by sitting around all night and day.

There are two type of RPAs, flat exp and mods. Every mod (to my knowledge) has a bit of exp attached to it as well. RPAs work in the same way that if you have no exp in your bucket, it's not working at that time.

I do think they expire though, just not 100% on that. Before I moved I had a few stacked up. Five days later of not playing, they were gone.

I have a feeling that RPA's work based on time not experience. I'm not sure how long they last for but they do expire if it's not used, unlike Lumnis which just starts up when you begin absorbing experience.

actually, the official simu company line is that they don't expire. This has come up numerous times where people complain "why reward RP with something that just makes people want to get up and hunt" and Simu's response has always been "If you have no exp in your head the RPA timer does not count down, so there is no need to go hunt when you get an RPA."

As far as I can tell, they don't. I've had RPAs (on characters that pretty much only sit around town and gab) that lasted for well over a year.

Same, all the ones I ever got lasted for what seemed like forever, because I used to rarely hunt. Although I haven't gotten one in I dunno how many years, mostly because in the last few years I hermited my gals. So, things may have changed since then and I just dunno about it.

Yeah they should last if you don't have experience. I just remember being like level 10 and getting one sitting on the boulder talking to some guy about who knows what, and it was like a big thing so I always felt that I could make someone else feel good about the game too. So if you stayed in character and at least tried you got a rpa from me. Oh and tell Jared I miss seeing him die too!
