Just out hunting when I walk into this.

[Old Ta'Faendryl, West Market]
Creeping vines and a thick growth of low-lying grass extends across a large space of ground that was probably once a huge open market where the inhabitants of the city could hawk their assorted produce and wares. The exterior wall of the city cuts diagonally across the plaza to the northwest, rising past squared off hillocks of verdant green. You also see an Ithzir initiate, an Ithzir adept, an Ithzir seer, an Ithzir seer, an Ithzir scout, an Ithzir adept and a twisted crystal-tipped staff.
Also here: A Ranger
Obvious paths: east, northwest
>
The Ranger gestures while summoning the spirits of nature to his aid...
>
Rangerboy gestures at an Ithzir seer.
Ranger closes his eyes for a moment as he slowly raises his hands to shoulder-level. You hear and feel a resounding low thrumming sound just as hefty clods of dirt and rock fragment from the earth, savagely assailing the area!
The surroundings advance upon an Ithzir initiate with relentless fury!

That would of sucked if I got hit.

doesn't appear you were ever in any danger?

If he rolled anything over a 52 I would of been in danger.

I don't think so. He was actually incapable of hitting you, even if he rolled 100.

Yeah...self-admittedly, I suck at math, but I'm pretty sure you're good here.

Is that typical ranger CS at high level?
If so :(

No. I think he just sux.

Reason being: You have at least 300 CS at cap. He only had 389. So 89 came from somewhere else.

Every ranger rank up to your level is +1 CS. So at level 100, with 100 ranger ranks, 400 CS.

Around 25 more should be there because of Wisdom, so 425 CS. Use 650 for more buffage, or overtrain ranger ranks, and you're going to have even more.

you're forgetting one point though. rangers can only 1x in spells thus the only way the ranger would get that high would to forgo(sp?) any lesser spirit spells. At 100 trains with 61 ranks of ranger and 40 ranks in lesser spirit my ranger CS is 400. My wisdom is nearly capped so it could be slightly higher not to mention if I used 650 owl I can get it higher. I can also boost it more if I were to use wisdom enhancives.

Umm rangers can double

Paradii
07-07-2008, 05:09 AM
what percentage of rangers 2x spells pre-cap?

g++
07-07-2008, 08:55 AM
Id say the percentage of rangers who go to 1.1-1.3x before they hit 70 is probarbly pretty high, my 47th level ranger is a bit more than 1x trying to straddle 640 and 117.

It's still not anywhere near double.

Pretty positive Odysia doubled after all this time. Someone follow her and get her casting.

LOL I never said rangers fully double, I was responding to a post by Drakam implying rangers cant double at all.

Just saying that just because they can doesn't mean that they do. It's super hard to double in spells if you plan on doing anything else but casting. At least pre-50 anyway. :)

I have to imagine most rangers don't bother going much above 50 ranks in their circle. It is margainally useful, and past 1x spells it starts to cut into their semi-dux.

My guess is 61/40, which I believe someone already stated.

Mine is currently 1x + 40 at 99. The main thing is does for me at this point is add dodge ranks and kill my redux.

I've been 99 for a month now... I gotta get off my ass and cap already.

Edit: and I do use 635 somewhat often in OTF. Thankfully I've never cast it with anyone in the room. :medieval:

That 382 CS seemed to do rather well against the ithzer... I'd say that's fine for someone who likely doesn't consider it a priority.

Naos liked the idea of a mass Immolation. If that gets approved I am going to be pissed.

had something similar happen to me... this is a small area hteres only like 7 rooms and there were atleast 3 other people in the area besides me and said ranger... Anyway I walked into a room and found someone on the ground with a few critters so I pulled him up and thats where it begins luckily I survived.

A huge monolith soars to the sky, its peak pointed like a tooth. As tall as it is, it's dwarfed by the summit of Sentoph, yet a few hundred yards over your head. It's large enough, however, to force you to climb a ways upslope to get around it. You also see a storm giant, a spear, a skeletal giant, a storm giant that appears dead, a spear, a morning star, a morning star and a spear.

The trail has vanished and you're forced to work your way around rocks and crags, picking a path across the uneven landscape. Boulders and peaks obscure your view, bringing the horizon near enough to touch. You also see a moldy oatmeal cupcake and a morning star.

[Upper Trollfang, Sentoph]
Up here on the peak of Sentoph, the crags soar like teeth into the sky. A narrow, rocky ridge winds its way down the mountainside where it soon gets lost in the fog that covers the lower slopes. Footing is uneven here, and you see no plant life anywhere. You also see a skeletal giant, the Caerus disk and a spear.
