Illthron is natty 5x. Rare as all hell. Similiar to Lor, in that is it a highly desired wood base to own.

i'm guessing you found this illthorn runestaff in icemule somewhere? And that it has a show about legendary creatures. I'm not sure where you posted finding it, but i do belive that is my runestaff that Quynar lost.

I think it's been more than 30 days, legally aloud to claim ownership. It's been posted here and I'm quite sure on Play.net. Must not have wanted it enough to claim it when it started to get sold. I say SoL. Even if it was mine, I would have done more to find it.

How do you lose a runestaff in Icemule?

Are 5x runestaves unbelievably rare or something? What do things like illthorn, lor and fireleaf actually do? (Besides naturally come as +25.)
I feel like I'm missing some very overt natural ability these woods actually have.
m444w
06-21-2008, 10:08 PM
They don't do anything... they're just RP props really. Fireleaf is nice for a fire-mage, glowbark for lightning... blah blah blah

So a 5x lor runestaff sold for 30-something-m for not doing anything? Are you sure they don't do anything (besides sell high?) Is there some weird mechanical advantage to those in the know-how? I mean seriously, you have to admit that's absolutely ridiculous in a land of a million other RP props.
Do certain runestave materials = more scripts? People?

No, whoever bought the lor for 30 was just getting Tsin'd. I am quite certain.

She's been looking for the owner for QUITE some time now. The moment it starts to sell and gets a lot of bids you come forth? Questionable. Especially since I've never seen Quynar in Icemule.
Either way, after 20+ days of not claiming it when she's been posting it both her and play.net, I'd agree with Bandaor.

I've posted on the play.net, lost and found and Icemule folder twice, I've been thinking on the amulet since the day it was lost, at least three times daily if I could and I want to do the right thing here (I also posted here, see the Icemule folder.) If this person who claims this runestaff belongs to him can tell me what else I found with it (I found TWO weapons in the container that day) then I will surely return it to him. I am NOT trying to cheat anyone out of a weapon. The person who is claiming this belongs to him says he registered the item, can someone tell me without a doubt if this shows up when you loresing an item or not because I have had three bards sing to this runestaff and there was no names attached to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have to be up for work in four hours, so I'll see your reply tomorrow mid-morning.

BriarFox

If he registered it, then you can simply ask a GM to check for the record. Doesn't mean he was actually the owner or the last owner, though.
Kitsun
06-21-2008, 11:33 PM
The bardsong thing will only tell you a name if it was disarmed. Registering it doesn't mean squat for that.
At this point, if he can dig up the show desc for you, it might really mean he owned it or simply saw it made. I'd try to get a history for it.

Can also see the SHOW via INSPECT if your demeanor isn't reserved or cold and it was in your hands. Not saying it's not his or anything, but a show description is no way proof of anything.

well first of all, bunch of you need to stop hating. I don't play quynar very often. and he has been in Icemule for a couple months now off and on. does alot of spellups for folks mainly. been playing my alt Myntauk for a good while now. As far as why i haven't been screaming about it on the boards for the last couple weeks is because the fact i don't play quynar that often and haven't hunted with him in a very long time and frankly have had no reason to pull out my runestaff untill thursday the 19th when i realized it was missing. Once i found out it was missing i did an assist immediately and was on the referral listing until i got to searching alot of folders that I don't normally look at and saw Xian posted about it. You want the history about it i'll tell ya the history about it. It was the first illthorn runestaff in the game, raffled out at Revel of the Ansfelt, i won the raffle. it has a lovely show description, kinda feminine about a bunch of legendary creatures carved on it. I have posted about it before, can't remember either on here or the play.net forums. If Xian sells it she sells it, law of the land, find it on the ground and no one immediately claims it basicly yours. I'm not comming on here screaming HAY THAT IS MINE YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO IT! now am I? So bunch of you back the F off and chill out, has nothing to do with anyone but me and Xian. Now Xian, i'll pay ya a ransom for it if you want to return it, or i'll start bidding for it, but i have read tons of posts on here by alot of folks and i know if i start bidding on it, they'll bid higher just for spite and sick humor. so its up to you.

Cool staff. I don't think anyone's hating on you, just looks a little suspicious is all. I too have seen the efforts made to return it, and as collector of runestaves, couldn't help but thinking, wtf. Who wouldn't claim this!?!?
The scripted staves are usually sold at event, ie the WD and heimers, and are rarely made of anything fancier than kakore. Illthorn, lor, etc., are collectible for their rarity.

i know how rare they are, in fact i was offered an insane amount when i picked it up. Truth is i didn't notice it was missing because all i have done with quy for the last month is transfer stuff between chars and do alchemy and spellups, there are only two weapons other than that runestaff that i can even think of that i'm missing, one is a bow and the other is a imflass sword. I've passed so much junk between chars lately i can't even keep up with what im missing. All an oversight on my part. If i had realized i was misisng the runestaff i would have been lookin in the town folders, and lost and found folders, all i basicly look at is the merchanting folders anymore and even then its just a glance. When i glanced in and saw the title An Opal Studded Illthorn Runestaff i was like OMG someone found it, had no clue it had been missing and been reported found for over three weeks because i don't take quynar out of town much, use chronos when i move him from town to town mostly, and hardly ever pull out his runestaff, when i did type unsheath on that thursday and i was told could not find an opal studded illthorn runestaff in your inventory i was like WTF. Searched my locker, searched all my chars and their lockers, then searched my brothers account as well and then made an Assist, got a referral, logged off after 4 hours of waiting on a GM to sign on and the next day started checking lost and found. I did see the post Xian made about finding a bag of weapons, but i was like, what dumbass lost a bag of weapons....now i see....this guy. I am a dumbass for dropping a whole container of stuff i know. I'm not denying that. But there is nothing i can do about it now except ask for it back and offer a good reward for its return.

aye, and keep taking snippets and quoting them instead of the whole context of the entire post, that little snippet there referred to the other weapons, which by the way i don't care about. Its just the runestaff and nothing but the runestaff. I'm going to quit reading this forum so please AIM me or i'll find you in game or we can contact by E-mail, i do not want to start getting mad and flaming people i don't know. That is by far my favorite item in the game, and like i have said before, if i was playing that char regularly other than doing alchemy and noticed that runestaff missing back when you posted about it, i would have hit you up about it, probably multiple multiple times. I've left word with a couple people already that know you and as i told them i'll be on this afternoon and will look for you. and above all that i'm sorry for makin this situation.

I've been up for almost 36 hours (it's been a long week at work) so I'm going to make this short. After a nice short nap, which I really really need, I'm going to assist and speak with a GM. From what I was told the person who claims this staff belongs to him registered the item. If it comes up that it is indeed registered to him, I'm giving it back the auction will be closed ect ect ect. If this item is not registered the latest bid stands.
I am also, of course, half asleep so I may wake up with a different attitude.
I am a woman after all.
When I wake up I'll speak to a GM and hopefully we can end this drama once and for all.

No one's hating buddy. Take a step back and look at the situation. Wouldn't you have alarms going off saying this might be slightly suspect as well? With such a nice item, I think it's due diligence to investigate anyone that tries to claim it.
No need to tell people to "back the F off and chill out." Take a deep breathe.
