That really just blows in my opinion. Now the higher level characters can be idiots, snerts and retards without the fear of me and my feras dagger to their eye.

Could a lvl 60 whatever Rogue hit a lvl 100 bard in GS3 under normal conditions? No.

You realize that Dodge is aged based right? Or am I making the utterly most perceptive understatement of the year? I doubt anyone around lvl 30 could hit you Edaarin.

Ah imagine me when I get to 100. 3x dodge and no shield. *hum*

Because most people who post on these boards whine about simple mechanics? Or don't even know about the mechanics they whine about?

level 100 3x Dodge and a greatshield just for the hell of it

Czeska
12-30-2003, 11:50 AM
Soupieced doesn't need a greatshield, considering he can sing whatever the hell armor.. shield..weapon.. he wants.
Ah, the glory of sonics if breakage ever goes live.

StrayRogue
12-30-2003, 11:52 AM
A greatshield would counteract the benefits of 3x dodge. I'd guess that 3x shield with a big fat tower shield might be as good at blocking as a 3x dodger is at evading however.

Well, people wanted a way to avoid kobolds from breaking apart their equipment with breakage live. Evasion like that is just about right.

Blocking and evading causes no clashes thankfully, so yeah, this is right. Age is the prime factor in the ability to dodge. So is stance. I bet you may have hit him if he was in offensive.

Did I bitch anywhere in my post? No. I'm merely commenting that I have about a 3% shot of touching Soulpieced, I got a grin out of it, he got a grin out of it, a good time was had by all.

And yeah, of course I can connect if he's in offensive, that goes for anyone.

StrayRogue
12-30-2003, 12:16 PM
Try having someone in their 20's hit you Edaarin. I bet you'll see something exactly the same.

Parkbandit

I think you missed the point Strayrogue.. We know about the mechanics of it.. but I personally think it blows.

And yes, a level 60 rogue could hit a level 100 bard in GS3. Not everyone is fully stance defense with all spells on, a shield in the left hand and a weapon in the right every second they are in the game.

In GS4 though, it's next to impossible for a level 60 rogue to hit a level 80 anything, do to the dodge and block factors.

THAT is what I dislike about it.

StrayRogue
12-30-2003, 12:40 PM
I disagree. I bet Edaarin could hit and kill Soulpieced if he, like you said was in offensive and spell-less. Evading is highly dependant on stance. Just like oldstyle stance defensive, older characters are made practically immune to the lower end of the player/critter base.

I'll beg to differ.. been there, tried that. I didn't have the luxery of trying it 32 times like Edaarin... but I can tell you there is a very small success rate of getting your 'kill' hit in on the first try. You miss, then you either open yourself up for an attack.. or you hide.. but the other character is now ready for an attack.

If I was swinging with some 500 AS at a target that had a DS of somewhere around 200.. then I should be able to complete my strike. Now, I have to successfully roll past a dodge and a block to even get to the attack.

I realize that block and dodge are stance related.. but there still is too high of a chance they block/dodge at any stance for my liking.

Well the only way to really confirm either theory is to test it. Why don't you, Edaarin, try to hit SP while he is in offensive. Personally I think the system is just as "balanced" as it was. Instead of massive DS/TD's to hide behind, the new higher end has a greater chance to evade and block.

I have no problem letting SP lay down and me whacking his right eye... Count me in!!

Hell, throw in an Edaarin and let's call it a party!

A level 18 warrior could kill Boomsplat in GSIII.

With feras, of course, but it was still fucking hilarious.
