What are the chances that I'm alive after trying to run from a weathered grimswarm cleric? WTF did someone forget to feed the two squirrels running the server?

Maybe St louis is flooding and they shut everything down.

I can remember a couple of times during my AOL days when I had items duplicated in my locker after a crash. I think I may have forgotten to report that bug!
Maybe St louis is flooding and they shut everything down.
Gosh... I hope not!

Great time for it - right in the middle of an invasion in Solhaven. Fuck it all.

Nah we're not flooded yet. It's about two or three days away I think.

I know what happened!
Invasion in Solhaven, and we were rather kicking the shit out of there critters, even with our limited numbers...
GM running invasion-"Oh noes, they're whooping the shit out of all of my critters! MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE MOR-BOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!"

That actually still happens, its because the locker system is on a different storage system then characters. When the game crashes they usually roll back characters 10 or 15 minutes so people who died standing around dont wake up dead, sometimes they screw up and rollback to a time before the crash actually happened. The up shot is if during the window inbetween the time the game actually locks and the time they set the rollback too your throwing stuff in your locker it will turn up on your person and in your locker.
Its back up and my boxs are back....nice
That invasion was pretty fun.

wtf...
I guess that made sense in some alternate reality. Not in this reality unfortunately.
What is with the recent trend where people don't even TRY to compose fucking sentences so they make sense to the average reader?
I think those are the names of the racing creatures that live on the cutter.
So it does make sense in an alternate reality that includes the cutter, I guess. But it still makes sense in this one.

goddamnit, Simu...an hour a day is really all I ask. 6am to 7am EST. No douches around. No work emails to answer. No drunken friends telling me which bar is "super awesome tonight."
but noooo..."Unable to connect to the Simutronics server!"
Fuck you, Simu.
edit: nevermind, I seem to recall them saying something about this which i chose instead to forget immediately upon reading.

Correct. The downtime was through the evening and up to 11? If you were logged in you could stay logged in otherwise you can't play until they are done installing finance software.

i think i logged all accounts in a disgusted fashion when a lava golem decided to set my face on fire after i managed to piece together the full gamut of spells. that kid will have to wait to get rescued.

All things considered the games should not be running on the same server they user for a business server. They should be seperate. No wonder there are slowdowns and such. Servers aren't that expensive.

The expectation is by 11am ET, but who knows what the reality could end up being.
I gave it a shot, leaving my account logged in when I went to bed last night, and was pleasantly surprised to see I was still logged in when I got up about 20 minutes ago. Now, just so long as I don't die!

In OTF? Avoiding getting all your gear ganked.
Everywhere else? Being dead is embarassing for one. Having your corpse dragged about town as empath leech off of your misfortunes, and the lovely process of having some soul stuffer give you a spiritual handjob. Many people roleplay that they do not like the thought of another having that manner of power over them.
So, bullshit aside, I would say it is a 60/40 split for most people between convenience and roleplay.

I don't know, I think what you said here is far-fetched bullshit. The people who roleplay it out are very few. I hardly, if ever, see people roleplay that they don't want to be raised and helped by the hands of others. If people are decaying, it's because they're in the middle of nowhere with no one to help and/or they don't want to wait around to get rescued. The people who are non-touchy-feely aren't that large of the segment who decay.
If people are that concerned about another having power over them, I hope that they don't have deeds, because it's ALL controlled by Lorminstra. She decides to let you keep on living.

really? i mean, i've never been in OTF, so i didn't know about that. but i don't think spending time and money recovering stats, exp, etc. is really up there on my list of fun things to do.

Yeah, from what I hear about OTF, dying there is NOT fun.
And as a player, I hate Death's Sting...even just the light one from forgetting to have at least 1 deed. The character I was working on this morning shouldn't pay shit to Lorminstra...but she sneaks in to grab a deed or two. The Death's Sting from a depart/decay is just...ew.
And fortunately, no death. Yay for smart hunting tactics.

There is nothing convenient about departing. I'd rather lie around dead and get LKed for hours than to decay and have to deal with potions and death stings.

Evarin dies something ridiculous like once a year; it's really not THAT big a concern.
I don't think he has deeds either because I know he's spent 20394802384902384082039420348029384023804902384 silvers on Death Sting potions.

In the hours you stayed dead and got LKed 20394802384902384082039420348029384023804902384 times, you probably could have recovered more than the money you would have spent on death's sting potions.
Because TIME IS MONEY FRIEND!

That's what makes it worth it for me. I spend roughly 200k a death in OTF versus the money I pull in, I still make tons. Not getting my shit stolen is worth it every single time, plus Evarin and I have this fun game to see if we keep our boxes from auto-depart.
Not dying makes it even better. Occasionally as Stun I'll get raped over the coals, now the Archmage is in gremlock country and it's rough. :(
