Goals:

1x - armor (until level 33)
2x - edged
2x - two-weapons
1.5x - cmans
2x - ambush
1x - physical fit (until 18, where hit points are maxed)
2xdodging ( Around level 50 becomes 3x)
2.5xdisarm ( Around level 40 becomes 3x)
2.5xpicking( Around level 40 becomes 3x)
2xhiding
2xperception

I'm currently a level 14 human.
I'm in voln but haven't really done anything with it yet
I havent picked any combat maneuvers yet. I'm unsure about which ones to learn first.
I hunt with 2 daggers, but I also have a sword handy too.

I'm looking for input because I don't want to fuck up my character because I didn't know about ____ game mechanic. I really want to be able to hunt well, pick pretty good. Is this good or am I missing anything?

You'll actually want to keep training Physical Fitness and maybe try to get it closer to 1.5x for redux purposes.

If you're only worried about picking your own boxes, 2x and getting lores will be enough til much later in the game.

I'd also say get more armor and work at getting at least metal breast plate.

So I should continue to get PF every level or to a certain point?

what do you mean by getting lores?

So for armor, you think I should continue up to 80 ranks right?

lore as in spells 403 and 404 for lockpicking mods

You can train in arcane symbols and use scrolls for your enhancing your lockpicking if you want. Less points to learn than spells... though it doesn't give you as much of a bonus as spells. Plus, arcane symbols help with some traps. (unless this has changed) I have a rogue that only doubles and she does fine picking for the public up to a certain level. She can sometimes get her own boxes, however, they are difficult. (she's 48) She just likes picking for the public.

Definately keep training PF and armor... well I don't know what armor you want to use but I only trained for brig because my rogue snipes and last I heard the heavier the armor, the better chance is you won't stay hidden when you fire your arrow. (still not sure I'll keep it like this but it's this way for now) I don't have a 'conventional' rogue... but she's viable. (least for now) I'd say any picking rogue should triple perception... but that's just me.

I've just come back after a break so my info could be old. Someone here will surely tell me if it is!

Keep training PF. 1x should be ok.

Armor, yes, I would continue to 80 ranks. Fit extra ranks in when you can to get it as soon as you can.

It does help to a certain point. But after you get enough levels, it's not needed anymore. Your disarm ranks will be enough to disarm anything you can pick.

I'd say being a two weapon rogue, he's gonna want the heavier armor.

Triple perception is way overkill imo. It's not a ton of points, but it's still a waste. I 1.5x perception and I only miss traps on fumbles.

Yeah... I agree about the armor. (was I at least right about harder to stay hidden with heavier armor or did someone tell me wrong?)

I have so much perception mostly for my archery... but I've always liked my rogues to have a lot of perception. Just a personal preference I guess.

I'm 98.967% sure that armor has no effect on any hiding mechanics whatsoever. I think it was proposed that eventually (rsn, like monks) heavier armor would..but it never played out.

I don't think it's the hiding mechanics per se, but the sniping mechanics. I am almost positive it does affect that.

Next level join the guild and develop a few skills there.

Might consider WSPEC or PREC as a CMAN now. See what other CMANs you might want after developing some guild skills

I think you need some AS for the glyph traps and for disarming scarabs.
