an ornate mithril greathelm

Weighs 4 pounds.

Loresings at 5 million silvers.

The harmonics generated tell you that the greathelm serves to protect from additional damage. The magical harmonics reveal that the head and neck are better protected when wearing the mithril greathelm.

The greathelm resonates with your voice, indicating that it enhances its owner in the following ways:
It provides a bonus of 6 to Influence Bonus.
This enhancement may not be used by adventurers who have not trained 30 times.
The greathelm looks to have a huge number of charges remaining.

The greathelm resonates with your voice, revealing some details of its temporary enhancement:
The greathelm's enhancement will degrade when the wearer is struck in combat.
It should be able to withstand an incredible amount of uses before its enhancement has completely degraded away.
When it's enhancement has degraded away, the item will lose its special ability.

Examining the greathelm closely, it looks like it's temporarily exceptionally padded, lessening the damage the wearer takes.

Exceptionally damage padded greathelm that adds a +6 to Influence bonus.

Just a little example of what +6 Influence can do -- basically, it would be nice for someone who is already a good seller of gems/items or someone with good trading ranks. Here's a brief log of me appraise without the boost, wearing the item, and appraising again:

>appraise my tote
You ask Lornkrek to appraise the contents of a thin black alchemy tote studded with smoky glimaerstones.
The dwarven clerk takes the black alchemy tote and inspects the contents carefully before saying, "I did find 321 gems that I'll give you 1151344 silver for, if you want to sell."
The dwarven clerk then returns a thin black alchemy tote studded with smoky glimaerstones to you.
>wear greathelm
You put an ornate mithril greathelm on your head.
>appraise my tote

You must train in trading ranks to tap into the sale bonus from influence.

The formula is [trade skill + influence bonus] /12 -- truncated to the nearest whole number (so 5.999 is +5%) --- and you must have X+1 ranks of trading for influence to count, where X is equal to the % bonus from influence

So if you have 36 influence with this helmet on --> (36/12 = +3% bonus) you need 4 ranks of trading to activate the +36 to the formula (whereas with 0 ranks you get nothing)

A paltry sum to have to train, but it may merit pointing that out so no buyer is confused when they put the helmet on and see no difference.

So you're saying 6 inf yields half a percent? Just happened to bump JD up over his threshold to the next whole percent?

Thanks for the information.

Bump with a new bid of 1 million.

Yes

I don't know that the existing formula is 100% accurate, but it was spot on when I first picked up trading ranks, as far as requiring a couple of ranks to kick my inf bonus into it.

1,151,344 to 1,160,376 is a 0.78% increase, but if you figure on a base value of right around 920k and go from +25% (1.15 mil) to +26% (1.16 MIL), it comes pretty close to being a flat +1%

Bumping, bid is still a million. If no one else is interested, I'll let it go for that much.
