I'm a gamer so one of the first things I did was go to a big ol' Japanese game centers. Arcades in the US are dying but in Japan they are AWESOME. I think I spent around $75 in one day in a game center and I was so happy.

Also, I love Shibuya. Go visit Hachiko! Everyone and their mom meets there.

I've been to Tokyo on multiple layovers and oddly enough, the best one was when I took the train out to the DisneyJapan or whatever it is. The rest was just nudie bars and worse. If that is your intention, then FFS, go for it, but if you want to have a decent time without paying for sex, I recommend the Disney thing.

If you have more than just a layover, hit some other towns like Fukuoka or even the shithole that is Osaka-Kobe. They're easily accessible by train.

Going to Tokyo Disney would be like eating at McDonalds in a foreign country for breakfast, lunch and dinner. (I admit to getting my breakfasts from Micky D’s while in Tokyo)

If you aren’t into the bar scene, either go shop or sight seeing. You can people watch in both instances. Either way, put on good comfy shoes because you’ll be walking alot. The subway is a breeze... but unless you draw maps to every location you want to go to, don’t bother with a cab.

Well, make at least one cab trip (or more) if you can. Trip and don’t tip.

I really was not impressed with Tokyo’s equivalent of Time’s Square... the Sony building. There is, however, a very charming little sunken French restaurant very close by thats very plush.

Sundays in Akihabara have the weird cosplay people out running around. They still have maid cafes and whatnot on all days of the week that are interesting to check out. They also have game centers that DCSL spoke of. At any rate, it's a cool place if you like electronics.

You're going to arguably the biggest city in the world. There's going to be everything and anything you want to do. People watching is fantastic, especially in Shibuya.

If you want to go live the high society life, go to Tokyo Mid-town/Roppongi Hills.

If there's anything in particular that you want to do, there seems to be enough people on here that can help you make that happen.

DO NOT go to Tokyo Disney/Disney Sea. Unless you're guilted into it by a S.O. because they have video evidence of your cheating on them, you have no reason to be there. Even then, I'd probably fight it.

Narita airport is one of the worst airports in the world with respect to international travel. It's going to take you ~30 minutes just to get into the city. The fact that you're taking an international flight out doesn't help. You're not going to have all that much time on Thursday.
