I don't know if this is old. I tested that familiar deed formula. A lot of people say this forumula but I've always wondered if its overkill to get a deed.
Level # + Deeds owned + 1 * 100 = coin deed
coin deed / 3 = gem deed
I needed 966 in gems to get a deed, I got EXACTLY 966 worth of gems and I got the deed.
*got another deed here using 1018 worth of gems*
My next deed costed 1033, and I tried using exactly 1032 worth of gems and I didn't get the deed.

That is the normal/old one for Landing temple. I think it breaks down at later levels though.

Dwarf-cut rubies always do the trick. 5k in the northern caravansary area near Varunar.

Actually those stopped working for my 30+ sorcerer when I got over 50 deeds. I forget exactly when they broke down, but they do.
Not to mention you are losing money by buying those instead of using cheaper gems.

I seem to recall it breaking down anytime you got over 6-7 deeds, actually. Though, it's been ages since I used anything but overpriced gems that more than did the "deed", so to speak...

Depends on your level as far as losing money.
And who really needs to have more than 50 deeds anyway?

No one needs that many, but this was back when you could be deeded. And I saw some people with a ton of deeds, and I was playing with the formula... SO I started off trying to make sure I had one deed for every level, then that was cheap enough, I just kept using broken lock picks and wands I didn't use to get deeds at hearthstone, and I wound up getting to 2 deeds per level... Then quit gemstone. Wound up playing with the temple formula some too..

40 deeds at a crack? You mean getting like one deed a piece per scarab?
Or did you find a way to get more then one deed at a time?
And honestly scarabs are worth more then dwarf rubys most of the time. Id call that a waste too..

I don't bother with gems.
I use trash (lockpicks, weapons, scrolls, wands, etc) in HS and stock up that way.

Does that work at high levels?
I haven't bought a deed in 3 or so years so I can't even remember how I used to get them. I think I got them using gems in the landing. Can you even get deeds in Illistim?

Bingo. I always laughed at the people paying far more than they had to for deeds.

Pick up the smooth stone talismans and the glass vials that are lying around everywhere that are trash from alchemy.
Two talismans got my level 65 rogue 55 deeds with the drawers in Ta'Vaalor.
They aren't good for anything else. People give that shit away in massive quantities, if they don't flat out throw it out.

Because 5k has such a huge value ($0.05).

If someone was dumb enough to let themself be deeded when you could just just report the person deeding you, or if worse comes to worst, log out, then they deserved to be deeded.
Bingo. I always laughed at the people paying far more than they had to for deeds.
When you consider the time spent collecting junk like scrolls (which sometimes sell for more than 5k at the pawnshop) and broken picks and whatever else compared to running a simple script to stock up on dwarf-cut rubies and get deeds with those at the temple, and then go hunt once or twice to make your money back (and gain more exp in the process), I wouldn't really say you're paying more than you need to.
Time is money friend!

Um, if you didn't have enough deeds, and you went afk like I do a lot of the time, its pretty easy to get deeded really quick. It never happened to me, because I made sure to get plenty of deeds.

That's why you turn on the "log out automatically if I don't respond while I'm dead" option.

I wasn't aware that there were large hordes of people looking for random afk people to deed.
Even if there was, it's still 100% preventable unless you're a complete idiot. Go afk at a table, log out, hide, group close, sanct, whatever.

Aren't you a smart one! But I have no intention of sitting there staring at the screen while I am fried and feel like doing something else.
Unless you were sitting at a table, there were any number of ways for people to kill you while afk and still are. Thankfully there are less turds around than there were back then.

Don't forget that the table mechanics are relatively new, especially compared to the death changes; you used to be able to just GO X TABLE twice without needing to be invited.

That lasted what, 1-2 years? Before that, you had to be invited. Then they changed it back to requiring an invite.
Either way, group close would fix that. At most tables anyway, there were some exceptions.
