I found a set of etched spiked vultite arm greaves in a box. I had my young bard sing to them. He is only 29. It came back with this:

The first thing that strikes you about the greaves is the weight, which is about 3 pounds. In your best estimation, it's worth about 1,000,000 silvers. You can also tell that there is some type of metal in the structure of the vultite arm greaves.

You sense a faint aura of magic around the vultite arm greaves. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the greaves is as some type of defensive garment.

It has a bonus of +20 from a normal greaves, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it serves some type of defensive purpose, different from that of normal armor.
It also has some type of special ability, but you can't tell what yet.

The harmonics generated tell you that the greaves has been infused with the power of a lightning bolt. The magical harmonics reveal that arms are better protected when wearing the vultite arm greaves.

My question is what is the special ability? It has spiked in the name so would that be it?

I took them to see if they could be charged in the bounty system and got this back

Helswrite looks down at the greaves in your right hand and quips, "I don't know what you think you're enhancing with that, but I can't help you with it."

Anyone help me out or have a high level bard in Illistim that can sing to them for me?

I would think the lightning flares would be the special ability.

That make sense to me. Was it that "yet" that gave it away. I guess I should go back to school and work on my reading comprehension!

I've never heard of rechargeable flares. You should get a higher level bard to check them out.

I'm fairly certain that "It also has some type of special ability, but you can't tell what yet." is simply a part of the song that lets you know to keep singing.

If you read the actual text, Helswrite is telling him that there's nothing to recharge. There's no indication that any enchancing/rechargable anything is available.

One way to test if they're truly spiked (beyond inspecting, as I believe inspecting tells you there's spikes on the item) is to have a Warrior use them to Haymaker critters with or a Rogue suckerpunch (At least, I THINK suckerpunch works with them)

But, I know for a fact Haymaker works with Arm Armor.
